No bomb, just a reversion to the community edition. I don't have a copy of community handy, but try this with your expired Indy:

1. Set a password on a stack as you did before. Save and close the stack. Relaunch LC. See if the script still says it is password protected when you re-open it.

2. Open a script editor, go to the Edit menu -> Options and turn on AutoComplete. Does it still work?

The results will tell us both something.

I have done exactly what you told me to do, and the script still shows that it is password protected
and allows me to unlock it when I enter the password.

Yes, well, as ambiguous remarks go . . . :D

I am certainly not complaining, and a little voice did tell me to "keep shtum" about this matter,
but, if this is a regular phenomenon (or, non-phenomenon), as it impinges on LiveCode's revenue stream, it might be useful for all of "us" (this is a reference to "Community", geddit?) all to know.

I was thinking the same thing, we need more clarification on what happens. Maybe it only applies to the next update. Or maybe my tests were faulty. At any rate, your honesty is commendable.

-
at 70+ days grace that is extremely generous.

Just to defuse any odd myths about licensed versions of LiveCode "reverting" to the Community version
once their licence expires I would like to point out that the version of LiveCode asks for a new licence and will not work without one.

@richmond62: Yes - that is correct.

Whilst all editions are derived from the same source-base (commercial has private code included which is not under GPL though), we own the copyright on the code so we (as in LiveCode Ltd.) are allowed to distribute things we build from it under any license we choose.

However, the two distributions have to be distinct: trying to include GPL licensed binaries in a commercial distribution would fall foul of the virality of the GPL license.

Well, LCMark, it would behoove LiveCode to make what I have just "discovered" public, because there are all sorts of "funny stories" going round which do no-one any favours.

I have to say, I thought it just turned into community too from what I read. Now to remember where I read it, aside from here on the forums. Hmmm :?
