As a non-professional LiveCode programmer, I was hesitant to enter the treacherous waters of this discussion, but decided I may have a point or two to contribute!
1. MaxV has contributed enough (his website and wiki) to be taken seriously as someone who truly cares about LC, not a troll. I was amazed at the degree of umbrage his choice of topic name has generated! And, discussion of LC's future is exactly the kind of thing this forum is meant for. By the way, I found MaxV's list of alternate topic titles hilarious! A sense of humor is what differentiates an interest group from a religion.
2. The simplest way to respond to the question "Is LiveCode dead?" is to provide growth statistics (absolute and relative - to competition). Given hard numbers are company secrets that LC wouldn't want to share, there are surrogate variables that could be computed from public data. If you assume that this forum is (one of) the main resource for new programmers learning LC (especially, community edition), the growth in new members who ask newbie questions could be one metric. I'd be particularly interested in how LC is growing as compared with Xojo (LC's closest competitor in terms of product positioning).
3. Can there not be a public area (on this forum or on the LC website) where suggestion could be made and LC respond as they seem fit. Does it have to be through private communication?
4. MaxV's comment on the "Lego website" is spot on. It screams "This product is a toy, not a serious programming language!". I wonder if they had it looked at by a professional marketing person. This is quite apart from the success of A/B testing tactics, and has to do with longer-term strategy.
Anyway, I don't mean to stir up the hive -- just surprised that there is less discussion of the topic than about the topic!
Regards,
Sri
