Upcoming Communication Camp

Post by Newbie4 » Thu Jul 09, 2015 6:03 pm

Is LiveCode having a presence at the upcoming Communication Camp in Germany this August? It may not be mainstream developers but it is a large audience of hobbyists and possibly other professionals.
The Chaos Communication Camp is an international meeting of hackers that takes place every four years, organized by the Chaos Computer Club (CCC).
The camp is an event for providing information about technical and societal issues, such as privacy, freedom of information and data security. Hosted speeches are held in big tents and conducted in English as well as German. Each participant may pitch a tent and connect to a fast internet connection and power.
The Chaos Computer Club (CCC) is Europe's largest association of hackers https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaos_Computer_Club but it is not limited to hacking or just hackers. (Even CoderDoJo will be there). The wiki for the camp is http://events.ccc.de/camp/2015/wiki/Main_Page and a blog entry - call for participation http://spaceblogs.org/2015/04/09/call-f ... camp-2015/

LiveCode may be too late for a village http://events.ccc.de/camp/2015/wiki/Static:Villages but not a project http://events.ccc.de/camp/2015/wiki/Static:Projects or a self-organized session http://events.ccc.de/camp/2015/wiki/Sta ... d_Sessions

The last one in 2011 looked like fun http://events.ccc.de/camp/2011/wiki/Main_Page and with interesting villages/sessions http://events.ccc.de/camp/2011/Fahrplan/index.html. It had over 3,000 attendees.

In between the camps, they have the Communication Congresses. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaos_Com ... n_Congress. At the last one, 2014, there were over 10,000 attendees.

LiveCode could also be presented as a scripting language and a replacement for Python for hackers. https://securelist.com/blog/virus-watch ... k-archive/ (Now there is a good audience for the commercial licenses with it's encryption). Or as a "getting started" language. ("You have the idea, we have the language").

If LiveCode wants to pay my airfare, I will give sessions and projects on their behalf. Anyone else game?

I'm Game but I'm not Camp.

However RunRev seem to be neither . . . and they are not getting the message out, and so they
are going to continue to be a marginalised thing . . .

I shall be in Germany twice this Summer: Munich 20-22 July [seeing a godbrother and my older son], and about 8-10 August [where I will TRY
to get an interview to make a LiveCode presentation at Schule Schloss Salem where my younger son spent 3 years before he went to UPenn].
