Hi jg501

Thanks for that; although the webaddress seems to be taken off; is this a safe process, do you know, or might it cause further problems down the line :?:

Well, I got so fed up with my Mac (it's now switching itself off every twenty minutes and takes half an hour before it'll switch on again, + its other problems) that I've taken the plunge and bought a six month old Imac from ebay, for interest.

So I've joined the Intel crowd + first time using Leopard for me (better late than never); no looking back now...

At least I can run my apps (when I finish one...) using Parallels or similat to test out the apps on Windows...

Does anyone recommend Parallels or do people swear by other emulators, I wonder? Is there a Windows emulator whereby you don't need a copy of Windows, does anyone know please? (I'm sure I saw this on the web a while back but can't find it now...)
:)

Corrupted icons and OSX video playback

Post by Martin Koob » Fri Oct 09, 2009 11:19 pm

Hi.

I just started experiencing the same problem on my iMac G5. In one of my searches I found a post that points to faulty capacitors in the video card as a problem.

http://forums.macosxhints.com/archive/i ... 02724.html

This is not the first hardware problem I have had with my iMac G5. I recently had to replace the power supply. The iMac just would not power up. Press the power button and nothing. I found an article which points the blame at faulty capacitors.

I took it in for repairs and they replaced the power supply.

It seems this was a known issue and Apple did have a warrantee extension for this which expired in December 2008.

Gyroscope mentioned putting pressure on Apple. Has anyone contacted Apple about a fix for this?

Martin
