Share my app online

I'm using Revolution Studio 2 version 2.8.1. and I've made a little program for fun and want to put it on my web page for download.
I've made my standalones.
The windows .exe standalone seems to copy all right to the hosting site and I can download it (although I don't have a PC and can't test it) but the Macintosh version won't upload. It just becomes a folder or something.

I remember having trouble with this ages ago but I can't remember what I did to get the thing out on my website so friends can download it. It's just one stack and one card.

What can I do?

Yours,

Tom

Hi Tom,

well, an OS X application IS IN FACT a folder (in disguise)!
Why not just ZIP the whole thing and THEN upload it? 8)

Oh, I don't know how to "zip." Is it hard to do?

??? 8)

1. Create your app
2. RIGHT-CLICK the app in the FInder
3. Select "Compress xyz" or "Create archive from..." or something, only have a german system here.
That will create a ZIP archive from your app that you can upload

Done :D

It worked! Thank you.

I can upload it but now when I download the app from my website to my computer and unzip it, my Mac says it's an unknown piece of software and I'm not allowed to open it.

That isn't perhaps your field of expertise, but if you have a suggestion I would be most grateful.

UPDATE. Never mind. I have changed my privacy settings in System Preferences to let me launch the app. I need to get a registration number for it so people can use it without doing the same on their macs.

Or perhaps this off-topic area is a good place to ask how Mac developers get a developer ID.

Hi trailboss,

yes, that is an OS X security setting, but I think you can also use the context menu (right-click on the app) to open the app it nevertheless!
Check this for more info about getting an Apple developer ID: https://developer.apple.com/developer-id/
