Re: dead in the water with ios 8
Hi Paolo
Still too early in the morning for news I think (apart from anything else RunRev will have to run their testing suite over 6.6.4 as well as other pre-build processes) - I'm not expecting anything until this afternoon at the earliest...
Kind regards
Dave

Thank you, Dave.dave.kilroy wrote:Mitch - I believe RunRev are working to put out a LiveCode 6.6.4 on Monday or soon after, and that this version - rather than the current 6.7 or 7.0 - will be the one that will allow building against iOS8 SDK and Xcode 6.0.1, and more importantly allow apps to be resubmitted to the AppStore again.
Keeping fingers crossed...

Re: dead in the water with ios 8
iOS 8 was released September 17, 2014, already three days after the first reports of problems with LC.
It's been fifteen days and we heard continuous promises of immediate release.
Today I received the first letter from an lawyer of my client who wants to be compensated! What do I say? Should speak with RunRev and Apple?
I'm really frustrated and disappointed

I don't know your situation but I would be absolutely most definitely be contacting RunRev!

Re: dead in the water with ios 8
I can appreciate the frustration, Paolo, but a lot of developers (and many end-users) have been having all sorts of issues with iOS 8. The RunRev team is aware of the issue and working to resolve it. I don't have a specific release date, but my understanding is it's "ASAP".

Miss Heather was very kind and said that it will take a couple of days.

I don't want to be controversial. I don't want start a flame!
My knowledge of English doesn't allow me to answer as I would like
But this is not a game
This is my work (job) and I'm using LC Commercial. I pay to use it.
My clients want that my softwares are bugs free.
For any bugs they blame me! Even for push notifications don't work on iOS8, even for DataPick .
When there are bugs want them to be corrected as soon as possible.
Similarly I expect this from RunRev.
Regards,
Paolo

Re: dead in the water with ios 8
Quite sincerely, I appreciate your candor. We're all in the same boat, or at least the many here who rely on LiveCode to deliver applications professionally. So never feel shy about expressing your concerns.Neurox66 wrote:Dear Richard,

Like the rest of us, the folks at RunRev would very much like to be the first development team that could deliver three quarters of a million lines of code entirely bug-free.My clients want that my softwares are bugs free.

But unfortunately, 50 years of ACM literature suggests this is rare (I think the actual number of teams who have achieved this is zero). Bugs happen, and at RunRev they maintain a sizable staff working on them every day, prioritizing issues so that ones like the issues we're seeing with iOS 8 get immediate attention.
More relevant here is that RunRev is not alone in this challenge - many of the issues with iOS 8 are from the one of the most experienced and well-funded engineering teams on the planet, the good folks at Apple:

Yet despite the many challenges in dealing with a buggy iOS 8 release, the RunRev team has been working hard on fixes and workarounds for the issues Apple introduced, and delivered their first build for you to test this morning - it seems our posts crossed, as I'd posted the link about this new release just before your post:

Re: dead in the water with ios 8
In contracts with clients ALWAYS specify the OS version number that your app will work on, not just the OS.
Again not to start a flame... But this is common practice.

Hi Guys,
Seems that the iPhone simulator is working but not the iPad one...
When I select iPad as the test target, the iOS simulator just turn black...
Have you noticed the same thing?
Cheers,

Colleagues
Has anyone else noticed that testing an iPhone App on the simulator for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6+ has a screen scaling issue.
Seems like LC 6.6.4 RC1 is attempting to apply its own scaling process.

Re: dead in the water with ios 8
So is this still the case? If we want to develop for iOS we can't use LC 7.
LiveCode 6.6.4 will be the one that will allow building against iOS8 SDK and Xcode 6.0.1
