As for "just" ease of use, well of course. We love how we don't need to learn C to write our apps, or Javascript to write for Android, or Swift to write for iOS. Why wouldn't we also be happy to see LiveCode write HTML5 for us too? One click and you have apps for all platforms at once. What other program can do that?
I really hope everyone will pledge. This could be a breakthrough moment for us all in more ways than one. And there are some very good deals on licenses too, so you'd be getting that for your money besides .
Android uses C and Java not Javascript.
And can you explain this matching thing? Does this mean their $395k goal is actually only a $197.5k goal? Or does it mean that reaching $395k will then in turn make the total amount be $790k?

The latter. If we can pledge 395k, the grant will match that total and give RR the same amount, doubling the value.

Android uses javascript in the browser...
I'm presuming (probably wrongly) that Runrev will be using a LLVM to Javascript compiler, like Emscriptem.
Emscriptem has been forked over 700 times, so I would not be suprised if Runrev is using it, or something like it.

Just bought my second large slice of ‘instant rewards’ – I can justify this as excellent value and a snip at the price – and I encourage all others who like a bargain to pile in and buy/pledge while they can!

Great to hear, Dave. I'm in too.
While it's perfectly fine for folks to use the free community version, I'd encourage anyone who uses LiveCode for professional work to give back a little. It's not only the ethical thing to do, it will allow RR to give us even more than we paid for. Those matching funds are what did it for me.

Just posting here is probably enough, since most folks hit View New Posts when they log in.
Maybe better would be to put that energy into the corners on the ' net RunRev may not already be reaching, via social media etc.

I don't want to harp on about it but;
since most folks hit View New Posts when they log in.
1) Only people who log in can see New Post, I have no idea on the stats of how many are just searching. Those are the people we'd like to buy-in to the instant rewards.
2) Only people who are interested in answering questions or are watching out for changes that might affect their stacks click on New Post (and I darn sure hope that they have already contributed what they can).
No worries if this is still a bad idea, I have bunches of them

I don't know if it's a bad idea, but as important as this event is personally I'm disinclined to set a precedent of encouraging posts in sections where it wouldn't be relevant. But as far as any relevant forum goes, feel free.
That said, I still think it would be a good idea to put that energy into the areas RunRev isn't already reaching, such as social media, blogs, etc.

As the final moments tick by, I couldn't resist making another pledge and encourage others to do so.
In addition to simply getting the HTML5 initiative started, this pledge drive is a golden opportunity for users to pick up licenses at good prices and for runrev to earn matching funds.
That alone will benefit all of us.
