May 1, 2006. Edinburgh, Scotland. Runtime Revolution Ltd, the leader in multi-platform rich media and application development tools, announces the release of Revolution 2.7.1.

Improved Backward Compatibility. Now you can save in both 2.4 and 2.7 formats and also subsequent saves preserve the older file format.

Preserve Creator Type. When set under MacOS X, will preserve the file creator of any stacks loaded into the IDE and subsequently saved.

Improved Logging. If your program encounters an error, a log can be generated reporting the errors in a simplified or verbose measure.

The update also includes 47 minor fixes and improvements reported by Runtime Revolution's customers.

2.7.1 is an update over the recent, major upgrade of Revolution 2.7. Revolution 2.7 introduced the following capabilities:

* Window level transitions. Now you can perform transitions with alpha channels on an entire window, allowing effects such as rippling applications on the desktop.
* New image rendering options. Render an image from any object on-screen, preserving the alpha channel, then transform and save.
* Anti-aliasing Graphics Engine. Revolution's vector graphics presentation layer is now anti-aliased.
* Multi-monitor Support. Revolution solutions can now be built to support multiple monitors, including different backdrops on each monitor.
* Enhanced QuickTime performance. Allows smoother playback and the ability to move movies live during playback.

Well, please post a note here when it's good to go. Or, should I drop back to Express on LInux, and re-upgrade to one of the currently viable platforms for Studio?
