Animation Engine and the Apple Mac App Store

Post by andyh1234 » Thu Dec 23, 2010 8:06 pm

Hi Malte!

I use your animation engine in an app I submitted to the new Apple Mac App store. It was declined as the app writes to a location that is not permitted, or rather the animation engine does. (<~/Library/Preferences/animationEngine/>)

The only permitted location is ~/Library/Application Support/App Name/ (where app name is the name of the app)

Is there anything you can do about this so we can specifically specify a path for the animation engine to place its pref files as I would prefer to keep the engine in the software if possible.

Thanks

Andy

Writing to the user's preference folder is a no-no with the Mac App Store? From the Apple documentation the Application Support folder is for files used by the application but not needed to run the application (clip art for example).. I guess a preference fits the description too, but what is the point of a preference folder?

Just a quick update, I resubmitted the app with the new animation engine stack and it has just swapped state from 'in review' to 'processing for app store' so it looks like it has been approved now.

Thanks again for the quick response Malte.
