Extremely Slow Print

I made a little tool which has been used by our school staff for some time. So far, it has been used mainly on Windows or Mac, but recently the school began transitioning to Linux (Xubuntu 10.04). The standalone app built for Linux platform works well, except that printing is extremely slow (a little over 20 minutes).

I tried two different PCs running Xubuntu 9.10 and Xubuntu 10.04, and also different printers (drivers): HL-2040 and cups-pdf. But the result is always the same. The same app built for Mac OS X or Windows prints very quickly.

I am attaching a sample stack to demonstrate my problem.

Can anyone help me to improve the printing speed on Linux?
