Crashes under Ubuntu 9.10
Hello everyone,
I was originally going to post asking how to install rev under Ubuntu but after a little flick through the read me I kinda figured it out. Rev is working fine however the seems to be a bug with it, whenever I open the Script Editor or the Property Inspector, rev suddenly crashes on me and its kinda annoying because I was really looking forward to writing some stuff for Linux.
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know because I fancy letting Ubuntu run on the laptop over the weekend and give Windows a bit of a rest.

Linux is more of an afterthought right now. I suggest not trying to run rev on it. but if you're into such things there's always bug reporting. Note that crash bugs are normally highest severity, but can only really be looked at if you're able to supply the crash dump that the os creates.

Re: Crashes under Ubuntu 9.10
Hi BvG,
When Rev crashes nothing happens it switches the cursor to the busy cursor and then simply disappears. I did some testing and it turns out it only does it on two specific window colours which I think is Redmond and the one at the bottom of the list. If i choose another it works fine, mind it does seem slow when typing into the Script Editor but meh I've got patience.
If it is to do with the themes then I might need to be filing the bug at Canonical rather than RQCC.

I think, if a theme crashes only rev, but leaves all the other apps working perfectly fine, then I'd file a bug with rev.

Re: Crashes under Ubuntu 9.10
I guess your right, but maybe its just an isolated incident, I don't know me way around Linux that much and I'm due to be upgrading the computer next week and it means reinstalling everything so if it doesn't occur after that then I'll just take it as isolated incident. Otherwise I'll be letting rev know about it.

Re: Crashes under Ubuntu 9.10
All I can say is that I am not having that problem under Ubuntu 10.04 LTS; nor did I have that problem with Ubuntu 8.04 LTS; I did a direct
upgrade from 8.04.3 to 10.04.
SO, why not do an upgrade to 10.04; it just may sort out the problem . . .

Re: Crashes under Ubuntu 9.10
I've installed 10.4 LTS (Never upgrade me), but I havent got round to sorting out Revolution yet. But I will post my findings when it happens.
Btw, it seems Ubuntu is getting more and more Mac like these days.

Yes, it is isn't it?mickpitkin92 wrote:Btw, it seems Ubuntu is getting more and more Mac like these days.
I really like most of the changes in v10.4 (could do without the purple, but the window treatments are a big step forward).

I like a lot of the changes too, except for the changes to the notification bar cos I customise the dock to look a bit like Windows and so only use one and somehow I've lost me volume and power icons from the notification bar yet networking still appears. Silly me.
I agree Ubuntu is taking huge steps forward.

Well, as a long-time Mac user I have mucked around with GNOME to look vaguely Mac-Like . . .

Re: Crashes under Ubuntu 9.10
Same here with Windows, I've got Windows 7 running and a nice Snow Leopard theme and I've customised the start button to be a picture of the Apple icon. They all look pretty nice together. Mind the Apple logo for the start button looks really dodgy when the normal Windows 7 theme is used.
Its strange, my Windows looks like Mac, My Ubuntu looks like Windows and my Mac looks like. . . .well Mac.
