I wonder how many test machines LiveCode run at their office?
I think it was Panos who answered that question in another thread

Aren't you glad I didn't actually get into what 'Linux' really is? That discussion always leaves me remembering the discussions on what DOS really is from back in the day :P

We have 2 machines running native Linux (Ubuntu 16.04 64 bit and Fedora 64 bit), and several Linux VMs, running Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 17.04, Xubuntu and Mint.
Well, yeah: except that most Ubuntu users are probably using 18.04 right now.

The other question that needs to be asked refers to the fact that
I keep a machine with FreeDOS installed under the bed and drag it out
to mess around with PASCAL about once every 3 months.

What I meant was that it really doesn't matter how many machines one might have lying
around if one doesn't actually use them.

In all fairness, that post was from a couple months ago, before 18.04 was released. I'm pretty confident the team is aware that a new major LTS release is available.

I'm far less certain that a majority of Ubuntu users have already upgraded to the latest version in just two weeks. Keep in mind that LTS releases get 5 years of support, and many Enterprise customers, where Ubuntu has a strong presence, take full advantage of that. Indeed, even a fanboy like me is still using 14.04, due to app-specific configuration needs (a circumstance that thankfully ended a couple months ago, but I still won't have time to upgrade for another week or two).

Besides, the system won't prompt users to upgrade until after 18.04.1, the first maintenance release, which typically happens about 90 days after the major release.

The predictability of Ubuntu's release cycle and longevity of LTS releases are among its key features, and a great many users take full advantage of them.

The menus look just as bad on a fresh install of 16.04 (released in 2016) as they do in 18.04. It doesn't bother me too much, but it's definitely not new to 18.04
