X server problems with 3.5

OK, so 3.5 fixes the memory leaks in X! But, now I can't get my apps to run on any remote X server. That is, if I ssh -X into my Linux host, or setenv DISPLAY, I just get a litany of Major error code 54, 109, and several others.

AFAIK the visual bitdepth is matched correctly. This problem even occurs when running the X client and X server on identical Linux distros.

Any ideas/help?
