Livecode became open sources from version 6.0.2 and on (7, 8 and 9 ...).
So you have no limits from version 6.0.2.
The main difference between commercial and free open source versions are mainly just the license. You can't create a closed software without a commercial version.
There are some extras in commercials depending which licence you choose:
- new code editor with autocompletation
- create iOS apps
