4.6.4 and Ubuntu Precise
I am having an issue in that I cannot get LiveCode 4.6.4 to launch or install from Ubuntu 12.04, on my desktop using Nvidia drivers. I mention the Nvidia drivers because I managed to install it on my wifes laptop which also uses 12.04, but has ATI. This makes me wonder if the graphics have anything to do with it
When I run the setup or the launcher for livecode from the terminal it exits with signal 11...not sure what that means, but is not very informative.
LiveCode 5.5.0 trial version will install and launch fine.
Both laptop and desktop are clean installs of 12.04 rather than upgrades. I have also tried to create a different user and run from there with the same "signal 11" results.
Has anyone else had issues with Nvidia graphics driver in Ubuntu and running LiveCode 4.6.4?

Re: 4.6.4 and Ubuntu Precise
For anyone else who may be running into this issue:
By upgrading Unity to 5.10 using the test PPA's, 4.6.4 launches again. Something about Unity and Nvidia were keeping 4.6.4 from launching.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:unity-team/ppa
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Thanks for the update. That's pretty strange. I wonder if it's similar to the Daz3d problem where they exported environment variables that LC's engine choked on (solved with LC 5.x)?

Re: 4.6.4 and Ubuntu Precise
I won't be upgrading my production system until a couple weeks after 12.04 goes final, but I'll keep an eye out for that (I have an NVidia card).

Re: 4.6.4 and Ubuntu Precise
I succeeded in installing my old 4.5.3 LiveCode version on a 64 bit Ubuntu 12.04
(Precise Pangolin) system only after installing ia32-libs packages:
sudo apt-get install ia32-libs
I do not know if the newer LiveCode versions are also dependent on this packages.
Google Earth seems to require the same.
On a 32 bit Ubuntu 12.04 LiveCode installation was smooth without any extra
action. Medibuntu & restricted extras were, of course, installed.
I enjoy LiveCode very much with Ubuntu!

Re: 4.6.4 and Ubuntu Precise
Very glad that worked out - thanks for posting the follow-up.
Please feel free to post any and all questions you may have about LC on Linux, as I suspect they'll be very useful to others as well.
Happy coding!
