I would love to see this too, but no pressure Thierry. ;-)

I use BBEdit to test the regex patterns before using Thierry's SunnRex. ;-)

Kelly I take it you have seen the live regex in BBEdit v 13, showing all matches in a document as you type the regex. :-)

Yes. I need training wheels whenever I have to work with Regex. I use it so rarely that it is like learning it again every time!

I'm impressed by 13 - I didn't think they could improve much more but... wow! I like!

yes, it was a surprise. And the speed is astonishing. I needed to search for a string in a batch of files in a big folder. Just dropped the folder in multifile search and it did it.

I am using regex a lot so drop me a line with any problems. Great place to test regex is

https://regex101.com/

in case you have not come across it. And once you have a pattern you can save the page and the url will take you back to it again.

I'll bookmark that. I don't use it more than twice a year though - hence the re-learning curve!

Edit - it's in my toolbar now.

No worries Kaveh, I have absolutely no pressure this way

I guess you mean sunnYrex:

Did BBEdit 13 break things or make it better for you?
Will there be a general release planned for (sooner rather than later) the masses at some point?

Have loved and used BBEdit for more than 15 years so would love to use it rather than the SE!
Hi Kelly,

BBLC works pretty well with BBEdit 13.

The sudoku solver you can see in these forums today was 100% edited,
tested and executed from BBEdit (LC executed in bg)

Since 2 months, 95% of my workflow building sunnYrex is with BBEdit;
including control version, 2 levels of automatic saving, unit tests, stack deployement
and of course all the nice features of BBEdit.

Otherwise I have no plan for the short term.
As a freelance, I need to focus on projects with positive ROI
which don't give me much time for anything else; sorry

Regards,

Thierry

:D Oh you’re a tease! Sounds great. Maybe I could beta test something for you? 8-)

Hope you get so much interesting work that you just have to take a break and tidy up this for release! My wish st least.

Cheers

Kelly

Hi Kelly,

Don't know if I am a tease but for sure I do know
how to count

Since the OP posted almost a year ago,
5 livecoders show up in this thread; 5 !

Well, that says it all...

Edit:
I've asked to an English speaker the meaning of "you're a tease" in this context;
and I did misinterpret this. So, might be the time for a bit of clarification:

I think it was clear since the beginning that I'm seeking for a number of interested developers;
so I've put some screenshots to show what I'm talking about.
As experienced developers, you certainly know that an app running
on your computer for your own purpose still need a lot of work to be deployed on other's computers.
Add to this, writing some documentation and then be ready for the support...

I need time for the last parts... which was the main reason why
I was interested to find out who would like to use such a tool.

Regards,

Thierry

Hi Thierry, i am new to LC (or more correctly i've toyed with LC previously but am now giving it a serious go) but would absolutely use a BBEdit module if available. Is this available for general use or is there any way we could help with the project if not?

Hi,

Add me to the list of interested customers.

I almost always have BBEdit open to look at files - it reads everything!

Hi,

While I posted interest before, so posting again does not add to the customer count...

I am really hoping this release happens sooner than later. I just spent the last month doing more learning of LiveCode and I am now going to be starting real projects soon. Not excited about LiveCode's editing mechanism since I will be creating lots of C++ style classes in LiveCode to start (yes, it is possible). So despite what I will see, I will be using BBEdit for a lot of that.
Be interesting to see if LiveCode can deal with BBEdit having my stack files open at the same time.

Off to the BBEdit web site to see what else might be there!

Andrew

Personally I would much prefer to use BBEdit for coding and would definitely use this when/if becomes available...

But in the meantime I’d suggest using Atom - it has a livecode language package and linter with syntax colouring, autocompletes etc. And all opensource/free.

Another option is to use Textmate if you’re on Mac which also has a livecode module although I think that’s a paid app.
