Mac OS 64bit build

Post by jalz » Wed Sep 27, 2017 12:52 pm

Hi,

I'm using Livecode 8.1.6 with an Indy I license and I'm almost ready to compile my App so it works on the Mac App Store. With this being my first app I may as well try and compile it for 64bit Macs, as I've read (not verified) the Mac App Store won't be accepting any new apps that are 32bit in January 2018. How 'experimental' is the 64bit build and has there been any news on making 64bit the default in the next version of LiveCode. If so whats the roadmap for release for v9.

Thanks
Jalz

That is correct.. As of January 2018 no new 32-bit apps will be allowed and as of June 2018 no updates to existing 32-bits will be allowed..

Yes, figured it was true, I've just been looking at the release cycle for LiveCode and its seems v9 has been in DP for almost a year (11 Months). Looking at the roadmap, I think it might be a while before v9 is launched as there are still items in progress. Is the 'coming soon' and 'Planned' bits of the Roadmap part of v9 or are they features that will be due in a further release?
