Submit to the Mac App Store

Post by thehat » Wed Oct 19, 2016 8:00 am

Hi,
I am attempting to upload a Mac standalone to the Mac App store. I am using App Wrapper3. It asks for a creator code.

What is supposed to be entered in the "signature" field?

Thanks,
Gregg

Hi Cregg,
I believe you have to define a signature with four chars and submit it to Apple for agreement
Best regards

Hi.

What Jean-Marc said.

I believe this is the same sort of thing that Macs have always had as what they call the "creator" extension, though the term "extension" here is not its typical meaning.

It think you can choose any four characters, like "ABCD", and if that string is not already taken, they will accept it.

I could be completely wrong about all that I just said.

Creator codes are no longer required from Snow Leopard forward:

AFAIK Apple no longer maintains a registry for them. If AppWrapper requires them that may be a bug worth reporting to that vendor.

Also, you can leave the signature as "????" which is just a wildcard for any app.
