when will the cgi's be updated?

Are you using LiveCode to create server scripts or CGIs?

when will the cgi's be updated?

As RR seems to have focused a bit back onto cgi's, when will we get a newer release of it, and will it still need these strange files? I mean These who make it impossible to run on most hosts (as the hosts are not incline to put the files on their servers).

Dreamhost Works Even Though They Say it Won't

I just recently discovered that Dreamhost.com, a popular hosting service for Rev developers, will allow you to put Rev CGIs right in your domain. No need for special cgi-bin anythings. Very cool.

Just:
  • 1. Grab the Linux CGI engine called revolution.x86 from the usual place (you need, I think, an Enterprise license to do this legally)
    2. Upload it
    3. Set its permissions to 755
    4. Upload your Transcript CGI files to the same directory
    5. Set permisions to 755
    6. Run
Works like a charm.

What would be really useful IMHO is a small pdf geared to server admins. A Document that will tell the technical people at providers, what they would need to do to configure their servers to make it work, how secure it is, where possible dangers are etc. If such a socument existet it might be much easier to convince providers to fulfill their customers needs. :-)

All the best,

Malte

Revolution CGI fact sheet

Great suggestion Malte. I've was hoping to be able to point my web host to something similar. They've told me they've never heard of Revolution.

Would be nice of someone from RunRev could give us insight into this...
