Upload website to Livecode server.

Are you using LiveCode to create server scripts or CGIs?

Upload website to Livecode server.

Post by Tribblehunter » Sat Jul 26, 2014 6:28 pm

Hi all. Fairly new to Livecode server and cPanel and website uploads generally. Having trouble seeing website after loading.

From my limited understanding once I have put the site into the public_html folder I should be able to go to my subdomain in a browser and see site. First page is named index.

Any pointers to tutorials or help threads would help!!

Probably the best place to start is the original on-rev tutorial http://samples.on-rev.com/basic.irev. There are others at http://lessons.runrev.com/m/4070.

The original tutorials use the .irev file extension, the new ones the .lc extension. Both work but scripts with the .irev extension will be run in an older version of LiveCode Server at On-Rev. It is probably best to always use the .lc extension.

You didn't mention what you see in the browser when you try to access the pages you have uploaded. If you could show that in a post, people may be able to provide some better advice.

This line caught my attention;
I should be able to go to my subdomain in a browser and see site
I hope you wont take offence but is your subdomain namedservers pointed at the LiveCode server?
Is this with on-rev?

No offence taken Simon. Assume I know nothing.

I am attempting to view http://myrunrevdomain/subdomain which i can see in the webdisk for my on-rev account in the public-html folder.
I can see the pages I uploaded but can not see in browser Am going to look through tutorials mentioned in other post.

Thank you for taking the time to help.

Try using just;
http://myrunrevdomain/
As long you have an index.html or default.html it should show up.

We can deal with the namedservers later.

Tried that. Comes up with ' ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED '.

I am guessing I have not set something up right.

Back to the documents and tutorials. Lol.

The message suggests that your Domain Name is not available in the Domain Name Service being used by your computer. Try http://myrunrevdomain.on-rev.com and see what response you get.

Interestingly if i go to file://#######.on-rev.com%#####%#####/DavWWWRoot/public_html/store.html from my internet browser it all works.

I am thinking that I have something amiss like a setting in cPanel.

At least I can check out how things look! about 2 days from finishing site so I have time to find the cause.
