lcStackBrowser V2 Released

Post by phaworth » Fri Jan 10, 2014 1:25 am

I'm pleased to welcome in the new year by announcing the release of version 2 of lcStackBrowser, a plugin replacement for the Livecode Application/Project Browser.

This is a free upgrade for existing users. New users can download a fully functional 30-day demo of lcStackbrowser here at http://www.lcsql.com.

This release includes several major enhancements detailed below.

TABBED BROWSING
  • Organize your stacks into separate tabs

A Preferences setting controls whether stacks are opened in a new tab or in the currently-selected tab

Drag and drop stacks between tabs to arrange them the that works best for you
DISPLAY AND EDIT PROPERTIES
  • DIsplay and edit built-in, custom, or global properties within the main display window

Arrange properties into expandable groups to suit the way you work in the IDE.

Display an object's properties in lcSTackBrowser by mouse click in the IDE

SHow the dictionary entry for any built-in property (With thanks to Bjornke Von Gierke fo the technology)

edit most properties within the main display window and the others in type-specific editor stacks

Add, rename, delete custom property sets, and add, rename, delete, edit custom property values from within the main display.

Use third party editor stacks to edit specific properties (e.g Tactile Media's tmColor editor for all color properties), or specific custom controls (e.g. Zryip The Slug's Data Grid Helper)

Edit all datagrid properties, including column properties. Add or delete columns with a mouse click, re-order them with drag and drop.
CHAINED BEHAVIORS

The tooltip for an object with behavior(s) includes the behavior id and the number of lines in its script for each behavior in the chain.

A link icon for each behavior in an object's behavior chain will be displayed. If you have an object with three behaviors in its chain; you'll see three link icons. To get to the script of the second one in the chain, simply click the second icon.

NEW TOOLS MENU OPTIONS

You can define your own commands to appear on the Tools menu from the Preferences Commands tab.

A number of new options are available on the Tools menu.

Show IDE Stacks
A toggle setting that opens/closes a new tab and displays all the IDE mainstacks.

Show IDE Custom Properties
A toggle setting that includes/excludes IDE custom property sets in the properties display.

Show Global Properties
A toggle setting that opens/closes a new tab and displays the Livecode Global Properties

Show Invisible Objects

Thanks Peter,

But it does not work anyway. It installed properly into the plugins folder but after restarting the LC it does not show in the interface.

Keram,
What version of Livecode are you using? I haven't had any other reports of this problem so would like to track it down.
Thanks,
Pete

Moderation note: I've moved the last two posts here from "Complete Beginners" at the Pete's request so we can keep all of the responses to his release notice in one place.

Thanks, Pete.
