HTML5 and iPad

Post by capellan » Sun Sep 04, 2016 8:02 pm

Hi All,

Recently, I was testing HTML5 apps in iPad's browser
and noticed that most apps are almost unusable.

What is your experience with HTML5 and iPads?

Thanks in advance!

Alejandro

Hi Alejandro,

how did you test that ("most" apps)? For example my HTML5 examples are made and tested only for _desktop browsers_ (incl. Firefox on RaspberryPi). I suppose that, if a browser on iOS will run some of them, then this is the newest Firefox. On MacOS desktop Safari is currently best for HTML5, but the iOS Safari is a rather "lite" version of its big brother. And iOS runs in general HTML5 slowly only, one will have to adjust timers.

Hope you will get better results with your apps.

Hi Hermann,

I installed Firefox in the iPad and a few HTML5 apps run better.
Thanks a lot for pointing this! Looks like Firefox is a better
choice for running HTML5 apps.

By the way, stacks that have fields and buttons that use the
motif interface, run slow, very slow... Why?

Have a nice week!

Alejandro
