Remote DB Lib

Post by gagsoft » Thu Dec 06, 2018 6:56 am

Hi Guys

Anybody using Andre Garcia's Remote DB Lib?
I would really like to get going with this as this will definitely speedup my coding for remote MySQL database.
If you have used it and managed to Implement CRUD, I would like to talk to you :D

Many Thanks
Peter G

Will you be using a remote db? Does Andre's library appeal to you because it would make writing queries easier, or make it easier to work with LC?

I ask because I just browsed through it a little and it just seemed like a bunch more stuff to sort through, so why not just learn SQL queries and roll your own? (no offense meant to Andre, he is a legend from what I have read)

Hi Ghettocottage
It would appear to be more things to work through but it is now actually less.
I have been using SQL queries up to now and Anndre's lib is a way to do less typing and less chance for typos.
There are only a few things that need to be configured in dbdlibserver.php
Another plus is that one has an additional layer of security.
I am somewhat obsessive about this now as it must be something trivial that I am missing. :D

I n e e d to get this sorted
Many Thanks

Wish I could help, I don't do much with even local dbs, as I generally just use flat files myself. Curious, did you try reaching out to Andre himself? He is pretty approachable, and an authority on the subject of his stuff for sure.

Hi Bogs
Thank you for the response. A bit of moral support can also help.
Mailed Andre a private message......no response yet.
A busy guy.

Thanks :)

Yah, I can believe that, he did just launch another book after all. I wasn't thinking of contact through the forums PM system, though, I was thinking more along the lines of alternate contacts he has setup.

I hate to say it, but much as I like using the forums tools, lots of others rarely put up with some of the annoyances associated with them.

He may also be more active on the use-list, I can't say because I only go there for research

I agree, you'd probably get a faster response via Andre's contact info. I don't think he's a regular forum reader and if he hasn't set up forum email notifications he won't know you wrote.
