Database Interface KS Stretch Goal Done?

Post by icouto » Fri Sep 08, 2017 12:29 am

Hi all,

If I remember correctly, one of the stretch goals during the Kickstarter campaign several years ago was to create a new database library for LC - one that would allow us to connect in true cross-platform (and database-agnostic) ways, beyond the old "you have to use straight SQL" commands of old. In fact, I remember that something like 'new database layer' used to be at the bottom of the Roadmap.

I had a look at the updated Roadmap, and found that this item is nowhere there. However, after downloading the latest version of LC, I can see that the way to connect to and interact with databases does not seem to have changed *at all* - i.e., we are still apparently using the same commands as in LC6, requiring us to use database-specific SQL to forge and query tables.

Am I missing something obvious? - I hope so... Has the database layer been updated, and the stretch goal delivered? Or has it been abandoned?
