Re: Help! No more Quicktime on Windows - and now??
All of my programs are based havily on video playback with slowmotion etc. and I need a compatible cross-platform solution, as it was announced as one of the extended crowdfunding targets.
As I wrote already in the use list it is important for me that I can use the same video file format and video codec for both platforms (like mp4 with h.264). This is so important for me, because my programs are coming along with up to 8GB of video data, up to 19000 videos in one program, delivered on DVD. I can't afford to maintain two different DVD shipping versions for Win & Mac because of two different mediaPlayers/-formats.
Even when we hopefully finally get a cross-platform build in solution, it will take me a year to migrate all of my video to a new format (though I am using sorenson squeeze), updating my programs, creating new shipping versions, etc. but my customers are asking me today for a solution because of the warnings about QT. That is a real headache!
Kevin announced a statement for early this week...

Hi all,
in case you missed this good news from todays mailing list:
###########################################################
I intended to provide an update on this a little while back but forget,
apologies. The new player for Windows, which uses DirectShow within the
existing player object instead of QuickTIme will be in 8.1, with a DP
build either next week or in three weeks time depending on how various
things go.
Kind regards,
Kevin

That is good to hear. I'm not on that mailing list, so thank you for that update. Anxious to give this a whirl. The new player for Windows, which uses DirectShow within the

Hi,
In the recent LiveCode 2016 conference, I discussed this issue. Please find my presentation here:

If you need a solution urgently, I hope the info and the links provided in the presentation are useful. In a few months or so, we were told in the conference, sound recording will be alive again in LiveCode. Version 8.2 perhaps?

Hi Pauli,
I get a page not found.
Could you upload it here in a zip file with any code - saves a lot of messing?
Thanks
