Re: "new" JSON library fastJson
if the LibJson you were working with was the one done by Mark (who has since go to the land of angels) ... it's very old and we had trouble with it recently, both in a mobile app and on the server. It does not appear to be handling Unicode the way we expect. We started using Andrea Rosek's JSONlib a...

Forking audio play for different platforms
Does anyone have a sample stack that plays audio on OS X, windows, iOS, and android?
It would have to not use QuickTime and display a player for desktop and switch to mobile channels for mobile
Has anyone built this already ?

Re: Design Debate: Big mobile app vs small mobile apps
There is a strong trend in China for one stop shop for many things. The app is like going to the mall. If the content is all related by a theme, I think many users would prefer accessing it without having to switch to 10 different apps at least that is what my current focus group of about 20 users i...

Re: Toolbar at the Top in Material Design
Currently we have this designed for the bottom of the app with the status bar hidden at the top. http://wiki.hindu.org/screenshots/gd-toolbar.jpg There will be a text quote that appears on the card with a photo... and it will be stored in a variable... then we let the user do what she wants: Favorit...

Toolbar at the Top in Material Design
I'm just getting started building my first app that will go out into the real world beyond our LAN. I'm studying the guides for iOS and Android. iOS uses the bottom of the screen for icons - navigation.. But Google seem "adamant" that Android developers use the top of the screen and reserve the bott...

Changing Splash Screen on Each New Session
On the web long ago, I used a technique for some random images that changed on a schedule that does not cycle through filenames.. instead the html would use something like: header-top-main.jpg then I has a folder with different images /header-images lotusFlowers.jpg plumeria.jpg cosmic-stars.jpg The...

Re: Avoid Use of Multiple Copies/Resolutions of Same Image
Thanks Jacques... everything you said pretty much confirms my thinking on this already. That in itself is helpful. Yes: compromise: subset of permanent images ship with the app. fetch others on demand... looks like the way to go. Obviously testing is key to making decisions. A lot of the art work we...

Re: Avoid Use of Multiple Copies/Resolutions of Same Image
what would that "biggest' we need be? I guess this is really about my education here... I'm really confused with the retina display info... PPI, pixels etc. iPHone six plus seems to be a middle ground between iOS and the super big Android phones... Retina HD display, my problem is I have been living...

Avoid Use of Multiple Copies/Resolutions of Same Image
I'm just getting started with mobile. Also for the past 20 years (yeah... really) I have always interacted with other users (hypercard, super card metacard, runrev, livcode) via the mailing lists... I see a lot of activity over here on the forums, so I'm giving them a shot. I have spec for an app th...

Re: JDK Path issue
Just to say this is resolved... "my bad" when I went to that Apple link https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572 instead of downloading I went to the support link for the update... duh.. Then yesterday when installing Adobe Captivate 8... it prompted me to download Java and took me to the same link. afte...

Re: JDK Path issue
OK I went to that Apple site... and indeed it appeared, at first that there was some installer named: jre-8u31-macosx-x64.dmg which was different from the name indicated in your "Mobile Tasks" documentation which indicate we need to run: jdk-8u31-macosx-x64.dmg # which I did install. #note "jdk" vs ...

Aloha Neil: I'm having no trouble launching the Android SDK Manager... I can create a device, set the spec (CPU, screen size etc) and even boot up an android device in the Android manager emulator and there it is: a small black rect on screen and "LG 5 1/2" (my target device.. though that's not actu...
