Re: iOS externals
The current version (and first official release, coming up) for iOS does not support externals. However adding support for these is a top priority and will be available in a new version within the next few weeks.

Re: MySQL and chars : best strategy use unicode->UTF8->ASCII?
Addendum: Note that some care is needed here - of the top of my head I'm not 100% sure what happens when you interact with a UTF-8 database. However, the thing to remember is that UTF-8 encoded text 'looks' just like Latin-1, it just won't display correctly unless it is appropriately converted. So i...

Re: MySQL and chars : best strategy use unicode->UTF8->ASCII?
Bangkok, Revolution can only exchange ASCII test with externals, database drivers and the shell. That's just a fact. However, it can exchange binary data through sockets, with PHP for example. Kind regards, Mark That's not correct. The externals API allows you to pass data to and from externals - b...

Re: Any complete tutorials?
Does anyone know where I can find any complete application tutorials like the Creating a Video Library Application lesson that takes you from beginning to end creating an application. I am hoping to find ones that utilize database queries, and datagrids performing selects, edits, inserts and delete...

Re: Point Of Sale Application
Hi Kevin, Thanks for your reply. I did read the case study. I have another question I was first turned onto runrev when I found Real Basic and wanted to see what other options were out there. I haven't been able to determine why one would choose runrev over real basic as they both appear to have si...

Re: Point Of Sale Application
I don't know if you've had a chance to look at the Case Studies on our site, but there is one that does something that has some similarities to what you describe: http://www.runrev.com/solutions/it-sme-and-in-house-developers/case-study-it-systems-dubuit/ We have a lot of customers who use LiveCode ...
Re: LiveCode
We are working on an update to the LiveCode server component, which will be built on the major architectural changes taking places for version 5 of the platform. That version number is an opportunity for us to bring the various components we have into sync and you can look for a server release just ...

Re: IOS and FTP
Wow, that's great! For months and months I am looking for a development tool for mobile devices, which does not use javascript, and that allows me to synchronize my data via WiFi/3G! 4D chose a full web solution, and will not develop mobile client, Realbasic is not ready. With Livecode, maybe I fin...

Did you have any luck with this submission? It should be possible to do it with Apple's codesign utility.

Just to clarify that response - downloading via FTP is in the next build. We'll have uploading shortly but I can't say for sure that it will be in this week.

Re: IOS and FTP
That makes perfect sense. I've spoken to the developer working on the other URL stuff and he says that FTP support will work in the next pre-release build for iOS, due this week.

Re: IOS and FTP
Thanks for your interest in LiveCode. It's not possible to use FTP in the current pre-release build, but support is planned. The next pre-release build will include support for downloading URLs in the background (load URL) and posting data (POST command) so you will be able to use those capabilities...
