Linux Requirements.

I recently downloaded RR demo "recompiled" a "Workbench" standalone application for Linux (it happens to be my only platform). I believe I have missed some new requirement since several controls are simply block boxes (they still operate just are black). The development environment is on a different...

Re: User Interface.

So, primary views are accessed via either the Main Menu -> View or a "Explorer Bar" supplemental information would be displayed via palette stacks and input "New" item via "Input" stacks. Right? Please excuse the description I do not use Microsoft Office products often. I have seen a similar impleme...

Re: User Interface.

I do not believe this is valid today since so much has changed in user expectation. Problem is most CRM applications used a similar interface (SAP etc.) it is unfortunate.

Re: User Interface.

This is what I built in Win32 not sure it still applies especially since it would not be multi-platform. It is a SDI applications that uses a "Dock Panel" I created to display "Views" that can bee added Maximized, Closed dynamically by the users personal defaut layout.

User Interface.

I am personally HMI (Human Machine Interface) challenged! Since I have spent most of my career working with 'Back Office' applications. Since my usual interfaces are minimal at best and usually "Dock Panel" style (hence prior post). I would very much appreciate any information pointing to interfaces...

Dock Panel?

Just wondering if anyone has built or found someone that implemented a UI behavior similar to .NET/Windows "DockPanel"?

Re: Windows Service

There is a Open Source application called WinSrv is can communicate with your application via stdin and stdout even allows event log entries.

Re: Position window multiple monitors?

Also I found in my testing the screenRects failed to give the proper location when the application is being used inside a "Remote" secession (RDP,VNC,X-Window --display). Has anyone else found the same.

Re: Position window multiple monitors?

The problem is knowing which monitor you are currently displayed on. I used screenRects, screenLoc and etc but the function is quite complicated (and not working multi-platform) as there is a oddly different behavior on 2 of my Linux systems. It seem like I asked the wrong question :)). Is there a m...

Position window multiple monitors?

I am attempting (unsuccessfully I might add) to position a syslog type palette stackin the lower right corner of the current monitor? The code I wrote sometime ago only seems to position on the "default" monitor. Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.

'do' Command

1. How do you detect of the transcript executed by the do command was successful?
2. How do you get the result of the do command?'

Explorer Bar?

Does anyone have knowledge of a "Explore Bar" like control? I would like it to be Linux compatibile. However it is not necessary if the source is avaiable (I will just work on it myself to fix Lunix rendering issues).

I have worked for many companies writing individual applications or application suites. Since my experience is usually limited to back office clustering I have little exposure to the Human Machine Interface layer. Usually these systems are driven from a user perceptive from a central "Menu" applicat...
