Re: Where are the newbies?

Yes, well, 'Amthony' . . . Obviously 'Amthony' had more things to worry about, such as 'spiling'. 8) I just felt that 'idiots' was silly, and incorrect. Personally it seems to me that regarding xTalk languages as "toys' is largely either prejudice or based on not actually taking the time necessary t...

Re: Where are the newbies?

people are idiots, a treasure to be had for the taking that they simply do not see 1. That is plain insulting and totally misanthropic, and not very helpful. I drive a Toshiba Auris, I use MacOS and Xubuntu Linux as my operating systems of choice: does the fact that I do not use Windows, and do not...

Re: Where are the newbies?

What we should be looking for instead is what explains the surge in beginner numbers between 2006 and 2013.
Well, I have a feeling that fiddling around with statistics will not really explain anything of any use: the human factors are probably what accounts for most of this.

Re: Where are the newbies?

After a while most LiveCode users might stop considering themselves 'Complete Beginners': this does NOT mean they stopped using the Forums, just that they stopped asking questions in the 'Complete Beginners' section. It might also be that a lot of those 'Complete Beginners' became passive observers ...

Re: Screen updating.

This, from the Dictionary: If the wait..with messages form is used, LiveCode continues normal processing during the wait. The current handler is frozen, but the user can start other handlers and perform other actions makes me wonder if your: InitaliseLists "ListOfImages" wait with messages --send "u...

Re: Screen updating.

I wonder if, in that case, you should wait, but not with messages as I feel the second call of the function is one of the messages that might get in the way of the first call.

Re: Send the Stack to the Center of the screen.

I'm a little puzzled by the slippage of your revMenuBar though

Re: LC makes my stack a substack

OK, OK: probably I am being a bit stupid as usual, so please could you explain HOW you open the second stack from the first stack? - Screenshot 2024-03-26 at 14.39.46.png - As THAT does something very odd indeed: - Screenshot 2024-03-26 at 14.42.12.png - I have NO idea what that stack "revCo..." is....
