Re: Installing LiveCode Business on Linux Today???
Today I downloaded Ubuntu 20.04 and installed it as a VirtualBox machine without installing any additional software or packages not installed with the "normal" (bloated desktop) installation. I downloaded the new stable LiveCode 9.6.0 release. After making it executable it installed and ran without ...

Re: RELEASE LiveCode 9.6.0 DP-3
Richmond's comment about supported Linux versions is totally valid. Livecode needs to be supported on current versions of the supported distros.

Re: Posix paths and shell commands
You should be able to use single quotes instead of double quotes to wrap the path. This obviates the need to wrestle with " & quote " syntax.

Re: macOS 10.14 Mojave compatibility.
Since Light/Dark mode is a part of an OS, and LC is supposed to be able to inherit default colours from the host OS, I think it is important for LC to support the Light/Dark mode. I admit it's only a cosmetic issue, but when I make apps, I would like them to behave and look well. It happens that I ...

Re: LCB Object Error
Could it have something to do with:
"Known issues
================
- The use of the Browser widget is not supported on Ubuntu 18.04 64 bit LTS
yet." ?

Re: virtual desktop - spaces
I wasn't referring to any plan to have the app try to set or enforce its own rule. I meant the user setting up the window rule, which would be a simple rule telling the window manager to always place the app on all desktops. The app isn't aware or doing any talking, it just takes orders from the win...

Re: virtual desktop - spaces
Apple have been b*ggering around with their much-vaunted SPACES, and have not really done much to make them easy to use like the multiple desktop thingies on Linux distros, or this thing for MacOS 10.3-10.5 PPC that really rocked: WorkspaceManager.png I used and loved CodeTek's VirtualDesktop Pro u...

Re: virtual desktop - spaces
Can you find where Spaces stores its configuration file that tells it where to put things? This would be a per user config. If you can find it and read and write to it, you could be able to duplicate the configuration for some other app that displays on all desktops with your own app. You could have...

Re: virtual desktop - spaces
It appears that when you right+click an application's dock icon in MacOS you will see a contextual menu that allows you to assign the app to a specific desktop. You can also assign it to ALL desktops. This should do what you want, no?

Re: virtual desktop - spaces
On Linux one would write a simple window rule to do this. It would just tell the window manager to show the app on all desktops. Can't you do that with "Spaces" in MacOS? For a single window app under Linux, at least in KDE Plasma, you can do this with a contextual menu by clicking on an icon in the...

Re: Error executing shell echo command through LC
Try using the whole path to md5sum in your command. This kind of problem commonly arises because the command is not in the PATH of the shell being used by the Livecode shell() function. That's always the first thing to check when the function fails but the command works in your user terminal. You co...

Re: Unsupported, but does it work? 2 Arch derivatives
If you go to https://downloads.livecode.com/livecode/ you will see all downloads from version 4.5.0 of Livecode. The latest official stable version is 9.0.1, there is a "release-candidate" of 9.0.2 (rc2). 64-bit versions are listed as "Linux 64". "Community" is the open-source/free-beer version. I'm...

Re: Unsupported, but does it work? 2 Arch derivatives
I will try a a non KDE version to see how that runs, given the initial difficulty under KDE. I'll post below when I've done that. I take it you never got that far eh? :D I noticed that, too and thought hmmmmm... I didn't do that...   My Manjaro VM was hosed during an update. This ...

Re: Unsupported, but does it work? 2 Arch derivatives
If you've got a 64-bit Antergos installation you should be able to install a 64-bit Livecode version without adding any i386 libs. I am currently running Antergos with Plasma and didn't have to install anything specifically to get Livecode to work. I have a VM with Antergos running Cinnamon and Live...
