B4X looked very interesting but, I didn't like that desktop apps apparently require Java. That's kind of a deal breaker for me these days.

Best way to support LiveCode?
Recently, I've been doing a deep dive on what Rapid Application Development / 4th Generatlon Languages are available and which ones support multiplatform development. And, I'm realizing that there really isn't anything like LC. SuperCard (which is Mac only and therefore not muliplatform) seems all b...

Re: Why is the geometry manager still borked in 2021?!
Now we can see that the report is back to an active status, and will be resolved soon. The life lesson here may be as useful in personal relationships as with professional ones: - Assume good intentions. - Take note of what's requested when something you're advocating for isn't understood. - If you...

Of course. I had provided it previously but, I'll save you the trouble of looking back through all the previous comments:

Re: Why is the geometry manager still borked in 2021?!
On the face of it should be a quick fix, as per @andresdt's posts above, running a manual command after adding/moving controls as higher up on this page. In reality it's probably more complex and there must be competing priorities with limited resources i guess... I should have been more explicit. ...

Re: Why is the geometry manager still borked in 2021?!
Decided to check on the status of the bug report I filed back in March. It's still listed as "PENDING_AWAITING_FOLLOW_UP". Like, OMG, they do not, as they claim, 'take quality seriously'. Not. At. All.

Re: Why is the geometry manager still borked in 2021?!
Now that I see your actual recipe, I have reproduced the issue. One way to avoid the issue until fixed is to issue revcachegeometry true In the message box before resizing after adding controls. What I observed is that the cache distances were incorrectly updated when a control was added. When resi...

Re: Why is the geometry manager still borked in 2021?!
To expect the team to execute a recipe that does not work and fix a problem they don’t see manifest is a stretch. 'I added 3 things and the problem did not manifest itself. Should, I add a 4th? A 5th? A 6th? Nah. I've proved there's no problem.' So, I just downloaded 9.6.2-rc-3 on macOS Catalina. (...

Re: Why is the geometry manager still borked in 2021?!
I can't reproduce that problem. I just created a stack, added 3 widgets. First one pinned right, second pinned right/top, third scaled width. Resize works fine. Dragged 3 additional widgets and everything worked correctly. Also, which version of LC? I tested 9.6.2rc2 Wow. Just. Wow. This is like wa...

Re: Why is the geometry manager still borked in 2021?!
For what it does, I think it works well enough. I don't even know how you can say this based on what I (and others are saying). Add a new object to a card, and suddenly when the stack is resized, objects that scale, scale to insanely large sizes (beyond the new bounds of the stack size) and objects...

Re: Why is the geometry manager still borked in 2021?!
I would be much happier if the table field was fixed. That is a much more "basic" control. I never use the GM, and would not miss it. I have to give each and every table field a vaccine before I can trust it: https://forums.livecode.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=31452&p=170731&hilit=correctly#p170731 Cra...

Re: Kaspersky reports virus
Avast has flagged one of my compiled apps as containing Malware. Oddly, after it quarantined it, I built it as a standalone again (didn't change a thing) and it scanned it and declared it safe.

Re: Why is the geometry manager still borked in 2021?!
Another option would be to have it explained comprehensively in the Dictionary. And, yet, another option would be for LC just fix it . I'm pretty sure it's long overdue at this point. EDIT: I've filed a bug report and I would encourage anyone else who thinks it's high time that the GM got fixed in ...

will annoy you endlessly with wrongly selected cursors, and that will never respond to a menu selection at the first try. Let's imagine the feelings of the potential new customer now ... I’ve just been noticing (and being annoyed by) the incorrect cursors in 9.6.1 Hadn’t noticed the menu selection ...

Re: Why is the geometry manager still borked in 2021?!
It was recommended to me (I believe here on these forums) that I not rely on it and instead write code to resize and move widgets. Sounds like good advice. What difficulties did you run into writing your own resizeStack handler? A. Sounds like someone has Stockholm Syndrome when it comes to the geo...
