Re: maintaining app window size???
Working on Summer School app: Every time I re-open the app, it gets truncated vertically, even though I followed the directions to click on iPad and Portrait and check the Disable Auto Stack Resize option in MobGUI. DId I miss a secret step? Larry PS: working on a laptop with an external monitor to...

Oh, so it is an embedded quote!
I am in the habit of using the messagebox for checking variables and things, thank you for pointing out that it can also be used in this fashion.

Help with wildcard '% or %' or...?
Newbie question here. I searched the forum, I tried The Google, I searched in the dictionary. I cannot find an explanation of the wildcard character Elanor used in lesson 3. Here it is straight out of the lesson PDF: put " WHERE firstname LIKE '%" & tSearchText & "%' OR lastname LIKE '%" & tSearchTe...

Re: live webinar issues
I would agree except it's nice to be able to ask questions during the live feed so as to get quick answers. After the first 2 lessons I decided to not touch my stack during the live feed! Today, they finally got it working so we finished the video & Q&A inside of one hour. When the sound goes south,...

Lesson 3 — beware non-refreshing Simulator
Going back through the Lesson 3 video, I had earlier missed the bit about the SQLite and MySQL checkboxes in Standalone Application Settings. But my Simulator seemed to be working. Turns out, the Web MySQL connection was working (because it uses a server-side script), and when I clicked on one of th...

Something worth mentioning here - the thread opened with cavenewt saying that they were using LC Commercial 6.1.1-rc-2. Please be aware that rc releases are not stable, shipping releases. They are test releases (rc stands for Release Candidate). If you experience issues with an rc release you might...

Re: SQLLite Opensource editor
You'd probably need some software.. There's a guy who writes filemaker export and import software with LC, maybe he has a hint for you: http://www.fmpromigrator.com Thanks, I've looked at that in the past. It's overkill for what I want and it's $400. I could ask the developer for a hint as you say,...

Lesson 3 script typo
Anybody catch the mistake on page 8 of the PDF of lesson 3? There is no group "connectionType".
Elanor is probably just trying to trip us up :)

Re: SQLLite Opensource editor
Thanks for the suggestions. I have downloaded and made my own two-dimensional contacts database using the Navicat demo. For someone pretty unfamiliar with SQL, I'm surprised I managed to do that without reading the instructions. Quite a bit of flailing was involved. I will check out the Firefox add-...

Re: LiveCode crashes a lot
Hi everyone If you can come up with a recipe, for any problems with the Project Browser please post here or file a bug report and we will investigate. If you think it might be the thumbnails causing the problem you can turn these off in the preferences and see if that makes a difference. Thanks Ela...

Re: Issue with Lesson 2 Icons
Because the icons are addressed by filename you need to include them in the Copy Files pane of the Standalone Application Settings, so they are included in the app bundle. You also need to ensure that the pathnames are relative to where the icons will be in the app bundle so for example if you copy...

Re: Issue with Lesson 2 Icons
I finally got a nice clean stack through the end of lesson 2 where everything works great, except the icons in the Simulator. I downloaded and used the icons provided on the lesson resource page. They look great in LC's Run mode, but in the simulator they are just gray boxes. I guess I will deconstr...

Re: VERY off topic - LiveCode University lesson 1
Has anyone else cracked open LiveCode University yet? I just started lesson 1 and was enlightened that PB&J sandwiches are made by spreading butter on the bread before the pb and jelly. Anyone else grossed out? Back when I still ate wheat, I would indeed butter it first, but only if the bread...
