Re: A command to clear all globals

Try looking up the keyword "Globals" in the dictionary. There is both a command, and a function, described that are supposed to return a list of all globals. I would try a simple repeat routine that rampages through the list and deletes them one at a time from start to finish. It seems awkward compa...

Re: iphonePick not working in 5.5

I believe that a Developer Program trial was offered if you upgraded to 5.5 (Commercial?) right away. I'm strongly suggest you contact customer support and ask them about that. I can't speak for them, but there is where you can ask for access to the Developer List if you have it coming to you. As sa...

Re: Displaying Web Pages

I wouldn't be surprised if LC adds native browser controls for Android at some point - currently the platform lags way behind iOS in regards to native controls. And on iOS at least you can already use all the Google Maps API Java stuff...I haven't done live updating of location but I've done pretty...

Re: Displaying Web Pages

Thank you Mark!! I don't know how I missed the launch command, because I thought I scoured the docs and the forums pretty thoroughly. Must be getting blind, I guess. Not only does the launch URL bring up web pages from LC Android just fine, but I also dug dug up what Google calls "Static Maps API," ...

Displaying Web Pages

I made a rash assumption (again) that LC for Android can display web pages. It appears that this is normally done with RevBrowser, which is not available for Android yet. One post referred to do this by "linking" to the user's native browser and passing the URL to that, which I don't don't know how ...

Re: Is LiveCode for Android ready for prime time?

You're right there is no support for externals yet, RR is working on that. The goal is parity between both mobile products. But they did a survey (see their latest blog post) that showed 4 out of 5 LiveCode developers considered iOS more important to their business model than Android, so of course ...

Re: Capture cam image for Android

There has been a lot of much appreciated information exchange in the this thread. However, I can't find where anyone has unequivocally answered the original question (in part) about whether it is actually possible to invoke the camera and capture an image on a physical Android device without crashin...

Re: Android soft keyboard

I have had the same results trying to bring up the numeric keyboard. The emulator displays a keboard that includes Japanese characters (I think this is what you referred to in your message), and my Samsung Activate delivers the regular alphanumeric keyboard when asked to show the numeric keyboard. N...

Re: Android splash screen question

This is good stuff. May I thicken the plot? My question would be: is it even possible to have a loading indicator in an Android app? I would spend serious time creating a progress bar just to watch it go if I knew how to poll the internal loading progress from the device/app and map it onto my progr...

Re: Android - quitting application fails

It does crash. So whether or not closing is supposed to be handled by the app, it is a bug none-the-less. I have found that the home button will take you to the home screen and leave any data on the app so if you return to it, any data entered in fields will still be there. It will also ignore the ...

Re: Capture cam image for Android

Re: Capture cam image for Android

Hi folks, what's the easiest way to capture an image from the built-in cam by Android devices? Only found iPhonePickPhoto to capture iPhone's cam. Cheerio, Chris I have just started working toward the same goal, activating the native Android camera as written in the latest release notes. No luck ye...

Android Video Problem (or, a case for reading the docs)

I was really intent on establishing how I to play video clips on the Android, and spent a number of hours tilting at windmills trying to accomplish that goal trying different video formats. Nothing worked, and I became convinced that the player wasn't finding the file on the Android device itself, o...

Re: Android won't copy files

Thank you Ben for going to the trouble to offer some help with my video playback problem. I was convinced that the problem was that the video file was not being written to the device, or that player was not finding the video file, since file handling on the Android isn't exactly straightforward. Aft...

Re: Android won't copy files

Wow, did this thread cut to the chase! Thanks! I spent a lot of time trying to find out if my file, entered into "Copy Files" in the standalone settings configuration was actually going to the device. Then, the "ShowFileFixed.zip" app, when loaded on my Android, showed that the my file was actually ...
