Re: To repeat or not to?

Gene- The only reason I refrained from posting an example yet is that I think it will make more sense in the context of the real script. There are so many variations of the repeat command that I figured posting something that didn't directly apply would muddy the waters even more. One morning I sho...

Re: To repeat or not to?

I can't resist passing along this quote from a much longer piece about how different disciplines (mathematicians, physicists, computer programers, etc.) hunt elephants in Africa. At does make a fun statement about repeat loops, so I guess it's valuable to remember: "COMPUTER SCIENTISTS hunt elephant...

Re: Is there a gallery of Apps completed with Livecode?

Darn, it appears I don't kinow any more about how to send an e-mail than you do. I thought you would just click on my name and my profile would show my e-mail address, since I have checked off "OK" for members and admins to contact me by email. Oh well, here it is: glambt@paradigmedia.com Cheers - G...

Re: ANSWERED: mobilePickPhoto "camera" is a bit slow -15 sec

Sorry - I think I misread your original question somewhat. I thought were describing the amount of time it took for the camera to launch, when I guess you were talking about the interval (black screen) between taking the picture and having it reappear on the screen. For me, that is stil just a coupl...

Re: ANSWERED: mobilePickPhoto "camera" is a bit slow -15 sec

Hi Barry, I agree with you that 4-5 seconds is still a bit of a stretch, since I just read a tech journal article that claimed to have tested user responses for Internet/computer applications, and people get anxious if response times exeed a second or so. Not to belittle your phone at all, but the E...

Re: Is there a gallery of Apps completed with Livecode?

Hi,

Send me an email, and I will forward a stack with a work in progress that is far along enough for you to look at. You will need to have an Android phone for runtime, since it uses the sensor functions.

Re: mobilePickPhoto "camera" - is a bit slow - 15 seconds

Yup. Get an iPhone :) g Hi Barry, Sure...get an iPhone, if you can get certified to buy it, a key from Apple make unlock the unit, and their written blessing to look at it. To get get on to your question, my Motorola Electrify with 2.3.3 launches the camera in about two to three seconds. As...

Thanks, Klaus, I'm going to file that. It's difficult to teach an old dog new tricks, but not impossible!

Re: Clear the contents of a field

Hi. It's entirely possible that I'm not understanding the question, but I'll stick my neck out anyway. I have always cleared the contents of a field by simply putting "" into the field. I've done this for years in Director by setting the field = "". In LC, it should be: put "" into field "myField". ...

Keytools Problem

The root of this problem probably comes from my Windows 7 or Java installation, but it's Android LC related in that I'm trying to generated a key for standalone deployment of an Android app. I have scoured the tutorials, including the Summer Academy, and the process of setting up to locate and run K...

Re: Android Ready for Prime Time NOW??

Don't forget the new sensor capabilities in 5.5 (GPS, Compass, Accelerometer). I waited to buy the commerical version until these became available because they are important to projects I have in mind, and I am far along on an app that is going well. A survey of like apps on the he market made me be...

Re: Getting Started with MobGUI for Android

Bingo, you are absolutely right! Usually I can flop around until I stumble on the answer to these kinds of things, but I just ran out of motivation and had to ask for help. Thanks. Now I can get on with figuring out the rest of how the plugin works.

Getting Started with MobGUI for Android

I'm trying to experiment with MobGUI to see how it works, and am not able to get it going with Android style controls. I must be missing something in the installation or startup process, because all I see are the IOS controls. I see them in a tutorial, but I can't seem to get get them to come up. I ...

Re: Report on cross platform tools

There is a perception anything that is easy to read and compile is 'scripting' and is inferior to 'real' programming... I hope the below quote isn't too far off topic. It's an except from from a longer, hilarious description of how different disciplines go about hunting elephants in Africe. I was r...
