Trouble running Linux Standalone

Hi folks. I have been working on my app for over 2 years, and the last time I build a linux standalone it seemed to work just fine...and that was 18 months ago. I remember having to right click and check the permissions... I have just built a linux standalone and trying to run it on Ubuntu 14 32 bit...

Create Portable Executable of LC IDE and my app

Dear Geniuses, Livecode has a bug that makes my app useless as a standalone. Its being worked on, but we have to wait basically another month before a stable release minus this bug is available. Everything works fine in the IDE however... so I wanted to engage some of my beta users by creating a "po...

Re: SQLite column comes in with £

In my SQLite DB Row, the value of the column is "£" .... when I query the db in Livecode 7 .... it comes in as "£". I am using 7.05, and have no interest in going to 6.5, since my app must have unicode support .... there is only one part of my app that reads columns directly from the database, whic...

SQLite column comes in with £

Hi Livecoders,

I have the pound sign in a column in a sqlite table. when I query it and bring it into livecode engine memory it comes in preceeded by this "Â"character. SQLite db is utf-8 by default. how can I prevent this from happening?

Thank you,

Tom

Re: Better site

a good website no longer costs a lot of money, you just need to use available technology better and challange your staff to do better work. I would laugh if they started a funding campaign for a better site. its a no for me, but i would love to see a better site.

Re: Secret file lcoation

hmm... i guess i should have looked at the dictionary, just assumed this was equivalent to windows "temporary folder" which is not secret but can be looked at and accessed. ok will try to use this..... though it doesn't really meet the "secret" requirement. the only reason i think such functionality...

Secret file lcoation

Dear Geniuses Is there a way to put files in a random and secret location on the file system like the way a browser does it? .... this would be a temporary folder to store files for this particular session. My question is is there functionality like this built into the OS? I am asking about all 3 De...

Re: Retaining Backwards Compatibility in a Changing World

I think the engine should be improved and evolved, and you can only do so much for backwards compatibility. I am willing to go through upgrading my code if I want to switch engines. My question is about one of your lines. I always use "the result" after I call a custom command and want to get its re...

set bottom left corner of stack to clicklocation

Hi everyone, I'm working on a multi-monitor setup (which I suspect is part of the difficulty), and I'm trying to accomplish a very simply thing, open a stack and set its bottom left corner to the location of where the user clicked the mouse. due to the differences in how loc is calculated for stacks...
