Hi no1g8tor ~ As for books... I believe Dan Shafer's Revolution book is still available. It came in hard copy but also comes as a downloadable eBook along with a couple of other ones on specific topics: http://www.shafermediastore.com/tech_main.html And.. if you can get a hold of an old Hypercard bo...

Hi Ken ~ You can refer to each cell by using "line" and "item" after setting the itemdelimitor to TAB, since table fields are plain old fields separated by lines and using tabs. To change the text color a cell (1,1) for example: set the itemdel to TAB set the textColor of item 1 of line 1 of fld "my...

Dear wn, The correct spelling is andregarzia.com and the site is off-line, indeed. I don't know of an other address where you might find RevOnRockets. Best, Mark Hey Mark ~ That's odd... I tried the link before my last post and it was fine... both the direct file link and Andre's site. The web must...

Hi Songe ~ You must have been reading in the Rev docs about "Save" where is states: "You cannot save to a standalone application's file; standalones are read-only." Once again, the docs left off some important info and it's really needed for those of us coming from a Hypercard background. Although t...

Hi again Ron ~ You can change the size of each card before you go there and again when you travel back to the originating card to avoid that. To see this... create a new stack with 2 cards. On the first card, add a button and put the following script in it: on mouseUp set the lockscreen to true set ...

Re: Setting image quality programmatically

There is an image property named "Quality" which allows one to select "Normal", "Good" or "Best" via a combobox. Is there a way to access this property programmatically? It doesn't appear to be included in the properties array of the image. Thanks This is one of my major pet peeves with Rev... it's...

Here are some answers to your questions Songe :-) Hope they help you out... 1) When you quit through the menubar, the shutdownrequest handler is triggered. But it isn't when the top left button of those three buttons in the menubar is clicked. It'd be nice if I could get it to trigger then as well. ...

Hi Ron ~ There are no built-in label templates in Rev, so you have to program your own in Rev. :( I'm right in the middle of doing this myself actually, because I don't like any of the apps out on the market for creating labels and I only use a couple of sizes anyway. I'm incorporating them into a s...

Re: shutDownRequest

Howdy, I put the following handler into the stack script and it appears that it is being completely ignored? Anyone know why? on shutdownRequest -- confirm with the user: answer question "Are you sure you want to quit?" with "Yes" or "No" if it is "Yes" then pass shutdownRequest -- allow to quit en...

Sorry I didn't get back sooner, but to tell you the truth... I didn't have any further experience with video performance issues anyway.
Glad it's working now though! :)

Hi Tim ~ Yep, this is a Mac OS thingy. Click once on either a DreamCard or Media stack from the Finder. Choose Get Info from the Finder's menu or press the "Command" and "I" keys. In the resulting window, look the area of "Open with:" Choose whatever preferred application you wish to open that stack...

Hi Timothy ~ I'm definately not very experienced with using video in Rev apps... I use maybe one or two at most in some apps I've made and not done much with them via scripting, however... take a look at the "prepare" command in the Rev documentation which will preload a video file to speed up repon...

This methods is rather cumbersome, I must say. Some of my stacks have hundreds of cards. The image seems to be an object in the card, not the stack, even though the docs say the image data are imported into the stack. If I've forgotten which card contains the image, I've got some hunting to do. It'...
