Re: How stop iTunes playing in a sandboxed app?

A sandboxed app isn't supposed to be able to interact with other applications via applescript because if it could, wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the sandbox?

Re: Listing all the stacks that make up a stack

the mainStacks
lists all main stacks currently loaded into memory (one stack per line).

the subStacks of stack "mainStackName"
lists the substacks of a main stack, (one per line).

I hope this helps.

Re: launch second instance with "open elevated process"

The application always checks the $1 command line argument and if it is "-slave" then it doesn't launch a second instance. I can understand why two instances of the same application smell like danger, but I've made sure the second instance knows when it was launched in slave mode. There are some wel...

Re: launch second instance with "open elevated process"

I have resolved the second issue, and it wasn't LiveCode's fault. The second instance receives data from the first instance, specifying the name of the file to create. This data had a linefeed character at the end which, if not removed, caused the "open file" statement to fail with the result "can't...

launch second instance with "open elevated process"

Dear experts, I'm experiencing two issues on Windows. My LiveCode app needs to launch a second instance of itself with elevated privileges. I use the following code to launch the second instance: on openStack if $1 is empty then put $0 && "-slave" into tSlave open elevated process tSlave end if end ...

Re: Simple button animation not working on Android...

An alternative to using a button and seperate image objects for each frame, is taking advantage of LiveCode's built-in support for animated GIFs. You would then have only one image that animates automatically, so there would be no need for sending messages to make it animate. You can use messages to...

Thank you so much, Thierry! You've just made my life a lot easier.

If only there was an entry in the dictionary for this... or was I just not looking in the right place?

the cErrorsList of card 1 of stack revErrorDisplay [Solved]

Dear forum, I am debugging a mobile app using a custom errorDialog handler like described in the documentation. I just can't get an error description anymore because the cErrorsList of card 1 of stack revErrorDisplay seems to no longer exist in LiveCode 8.1.1. How am I now supposed to debug my app i...

Thank you, Kroka!

I'm just curious, though... Does Google Play Store really accept apps signed with a self-signed key instead of one issued by a Certificate Authority?

Re: Random numbers greater than unsigned 32-bit?

For my own purposes I suppose that could also suffice. The only real problem arises when uniform distribution is a must, in which case my original code is the closest thing I could think of. It may be worth noting at this point that LiveCode can accurately compute unsigned integers only up to 57-bit...

Re: Random numbers greater than unsigned 32-bit?

I suppose I could, because uniform distribution isn't that important for my own purposes. If, however, uniform distribution is important then your solution would not be suitable because uniform distribution is diminished with every addition. C++11 lets one generate uniformly distributed floating poi...

Random numbers greater than unsigned 32-bit?

Dear LiveCoders, LiveCode's random function can only generate numbers up to 4294967295 (unsigned 32-bit). I need to generate random numbers up to 274877906943 (38-bit). I have the following code: function randomNbit n -- Returns a random number between 1 and the maximum range of an unsigned n-bit nu...

Re: Android soft keyboard issue when in landscape orientatio

Hi Panos

I would like to test this, but I am a bit afraid of installing Android Studio because it might mess up my Android SDK settings which could render LiveCode unable to build an Android standalone.

Perhaps someone already has Android Studio installed and could test it for us?

Regards,

Gerrie
