Re: Identifying App folder Redux

The snippet I posted was for Mac OS X, and should find its way backwards from inside the app bundle until it resolves the enclosing folder. I don't have Catalina installed, but theoretically it should work. Maybe someone with Catalina could try it. It did work to find the enclosing folder of the LC ...

Re: Test Target Greyed Out

Right, the path to the SDK is important, it's what LC uses to build the Android app. Without the right path you get nothing. It looks like your chosen path is correct, though on my Mac "sdk" is all lower case. Not sure about Windows, but since you chose the sdk from the file picker I have to assume ...

Re: LiveCode 9.5.1 crashes when closing stack

I see what you mean about the combo box now, that was a good video. Thanks. I confirm that's a bug, you could enter a bug report here: http://quality.livecom.com. The bug is that the button does not retain its margin settings when redrawn and also does not honor the default margins when created. You...

By the way did you ever found out how to detect when the APP returns to the foreground on Android?
Nope. As far as I know there are no messages sent and no way to know. If the app gets wiped from memory by the OS we're supposed to get a shutdown message though. I haven't tested it.

Re: iOS13 x iOS12 different background behaviour

It's an Apple "feature" introduced in iOS 13. All apps now run in the background just as Android apps always have. This is an issue for those cases where you do want background behavior, but the old switch that enables it is now a cause for rejection from the App Store. It means users of older iPhon...

Re: LiveCode 9.5.1 crashes when closing stack

The 7.0 file format is old, and some changes you make in LC 9 will not be saved if you save the file in 7.0 format. The cursors and answer dialogs are added when building standalones, and some others too, but their additions should never be included in the source stack. Remove them from the source, ...

Re: LiveCode 9.5.1 crashes when closing stack

Joan, I think a little more experience and help from us will solve most of your issues. I'm not sure what you mean by the margins of combo buttons, maybe a screenshot would help. If you saved your changes they will remain, so there is something else happening. Perhaps you didn't save the stack in th...

Re: Colored or shaded sections of code in the SE

A more common solution for easily identifying and navigating distinct script sessions is to use handler names as section identifiers,
I've been doing this for years, I learned it from Ken Ray. Very handy.

Re: Changing size of a full screen app for android

All Android devices have different resolutions and screen sizes, so no matter what size the stack is, it won't fit on at least some devices. There are two approaches for this. 1. Use fullscreenMode to automatically scale to fit. 2. Get the screenrect of the device and script the location or rectangl...

Re: Missing App Icon in MacOS build

I don't really know the answer but I wonder if there is something wrong with the ICNS file itself. It's probably not likely but if you can find a different tool to create the file it would be a good test.

Did you put the correct string into the "Internal app ID" entry in Standalone Settings -> iOS -> Basic Settings?

Re: URL specification change LC8.1 to LC9.x

I had a related issue yesterday. SpecialFolderPath preceeds the URL with a slash, so if you use "file://" in the URL you get three slashes at the front. This worked fine on Mac, Android, and in the iOS simulator (which uses Mac file paths) but failed on a real iPhone. To fix it I needed to use "file...

Re: "Could not compile service support class"

What version of the Java SDK do you have? LC requires 8.1. Also, this lesson may help:
