Re: Identifying App folder Redux

Using the documents folder isn't just for mobile apps any more, desktop OSs are becoming more and more sensitive to file permissions due to malware prevention. I think your update plan is solid. In fact, it sounds like it would be pretty easy to auto-update the few small files. Provide an Update but...

Re: Test Target Greyed Out

Make sure the emulator is up and running and also that you have selected the Android build in standalone settings. If that doesn't work you may have to restart LiveCode.

Sorry 'jacque', I corrected the typo.
I cited the last line of viewtopic.php?p=136476#p136476
Okay. I was talking about sharing work during stack development where the type of license makes no difference. I think there's a misunderstanding, but no matter.

Re: Two developers same project ?

My quoted answer was written 4 years ago before we had script-only stacks. Now we are able to use those, which are plain text files, to track script changes and update your stacks. Brian Milby"s Script Tracker stack was created to do this easily. I don't have a link handy but a forum search should f...

Re: Identifying App folder Redux

I was remiss in not appending "for read" in the call to "open file", which might have caused the failure in Catalina
Yeah, that could very well be the problem. Fingers crossed, and let us know. That would be a permissions change the rest of us would need to know about.

Re: Identifying App folder Redux

At this point it doesn't sound like a file path problem to me. You could get more information if you split your error checking into two parts. First check if the file exists and provide an error message if it doesn't. If the file exists, proceed to open it and if that fails, provide a different erro...

Re: Identifying App folder Redux

I doubt the app bundle has changed, so it could well be a permissions issue. Is the app installed in the Applications folder? Does it work if moved to the desktop?

What's the folder and file structure of the app?

Re: Option menu oddity?

The advantage would be to avoid repeated actions that might add redundant information to a data set. This way you don't have to keep track. Don't some operating systems disable the current selection? I can't remember.

I was going to drop this but my hind brain took over.

Re: Option menu oddity?

Since I haven't seen a compelling reason for the behavior I think the team made the right decision. If you want to allow repeated selections though, try setting the menuHistory to 0.

Re: Identifying App folder Redux

I'm just awaiting word back from the student for whom the app broke in Catalina and from one who runs Windows. I'll update here what they report. Just to confirm, you'd use my suggestion only for OS X and continue to branch for Windows OS. And please don't worry about asking questions already poste...

Re: Option menu oddity?

This way I can change the menuHistory without actually doing anything to whatever item 1 does, and still get "Choice 2" even if it is already at "Choice 2".
I'm trying to figure out why you'd want to do that.

Re: Combobox actions

The cleanest way to do this is to use menuhistory. See the dictionary for that term, part of which is: When you set the menuHistory property, a menuPick message is sent to the button. If the button's menuMode is "comboBox", setting its menuHistory also changes the button's label to the new menu item.

Re: Black screen with Android 5 1

It may be that the setup for LC 9 isn't compatible with an Android version as old as 5.1. If you can find the forum post where the problem was solved and install the setup in use at the time, that may fix it. If so, you'd need to build with the compatible version of LC. You'd lose any newer LC featu...

Re: Identifying App folder Redux

The snippet I posted was for Mac OS X, and should find its way backwards from inside the app bundle until it resolves the enclosing folder. I don't have Catalina installed, but theoretically it should work. Maybe someone with Catalina could try it. It did work to find the enclosing folder of the LC ...
