Thank you Mikey, I understand that the idea of uniting two different windows cannot please to everyone it would be a fairly radical change.

Re: New Utility window (proposal)

Thank you for the post Richard. In your case, then, I believe that this change would not be very useful. It's a proposal improve the workflow for those who use the standard IDE. I would just like to point out that this window don't add new features so it's a suggestion for changing the LiveCode IDE ...

Re: Proposed changes to the IDE User Interface

I have also proposed a new unified window with the Project Browser and the Property Inspector. I think it might increase the productivity of the IDE, where now the functions are distributed in a myriad of windows and palettes and where there is also a lot of redundancy. Utility Window: http://forums...

New Utility window (proposal)

Following discussions of these days in which I proposed a redesign of the Project Browser and one for the Property Inspector. I propose here a new unified panel of the two windows. I called it Utility but could be named differently. I think it could be a step forward for the IDE interface that is no...

Re: Proposed changes to the IDE User Interface

Thank you so much Klaus, Craig and Mikey for the comments.

Mikey, I'm no a fan of the previews in the IDE but I understand your point of view. Maybe the team has removed this feature in an attempt to improve the stability of the Project Browser. It is just a hypothesis

Re: Proposal for changing a bit the Project Browser

Ok, I posted a new version of the image where the selection of an object on the card is indicated by an icon, and the selection of an item in the Project Browser is indicated by a checkbox. Maybe now the scope of the Project Browser is a bit more clear, I think.

Re: Proposal for changing a bit the Project Browser

Hello Jacqueline, I had also noticed these usability problems with the Project Browser. It 'a shame because I think this palette can help so many new users to understand how LiveCode works at a glance. Currently, the Project Browser tools (align, duplicate and so on...) are designed to work with the...

Proposed changes to the IDE User Interface

Since I work in the field of usability and user interface, these days I tried to imagine how it could be the LiveCode's IDE to be more in line with the look of current applications and easier for new users. Many of us, find quickly what they want, but new users perhaps would have a bit more difficul...

Re: Proposal for changing a bit the Tools Palette

Removing each section and then re-adding all of them when I need the whole thing is a bit... painful. ;-) There actually is a keyboard shortcut for Browse and Pointer tools (look in the Tools menu), but this doesn't give me the on-screen indication of which tool is active. Hi Jeanne, I'm aware of t...
