Export snapshot with effects?

I'd like to export the visual state of an image with an ink mode applied. It looked like 'export snapshot' would allow this, but either I can't figure out the script form or it's not working as it should. I hope – like normal – it's my fault and there's a solution waiting to hit me between the eyes!...

Re: lock objects from being dragged out of the screen

What I actually found eliminates that is -1, as in (from a remembered conversation with Jacque in a thread far away) Great stuff! I still can't agree that anything I've seen is as elegant (in the 'simple elegance' sense) as the SuperCard ability, but I can see a lot of flexibility and power in the ...

Re: lock objects from being dragged out of the screen

The sample stack helped a lot, thanks Jean-Marc! (I do dearly wish it was as simple as SuperCard's grab [with message] [within rect]. I can see how this more complex mouseDown/mouseUp/mouseRelease/mouseMove setup can be really powerful, but surely there's room for something simpler (and in that sens...

Grab (drag an object) only within specific area?

I'd like to have the user grab and drag a simple object across the card, but constrained to move in just one plane and also within a specific span. Specifically, a vertical line, dragged horizontally across an image, so the user can specify where North is in the image. In SuperCard I'd probably use ...

Re: Drag-drop onto app icon

Very interesting resource - I'm going to have to delve through Ken's list of goodies! For this particular challenge that link I posted still *looks* more relevant. But it also seems rather crazy to have to craft such dramatically different things for different platforms and add custom CFBundleTypeEx...

Drag-drop onto app icon

I have drag & drop working well in an app – dropping a JPEG or PNG into a target in the stack – but I'd really like to be able to do the same by dropping a (compatible) file onto the app icon, launching it if necessary and passing over the drop process to my regular scripts. Is this: http://lessons....

Re: Get File Type/Creator?

InDesign is probably the worst target app for this task – possibly for the same reason you want to do it! InDesign documents will open whatever copy of InDesign is available, at which point (if the copy of InDesign is older than the one used to make the document, even by a tiny bit) the application ...

Re: Check standalone version?

put the cRevStandaloneSettings["OSX,shortVersion"] of stack "your stack here" into tCurrentVersion Bingo! Thanks Klaus, that's it. I won't have to remember to keep my own custom record of the standalone version in sync with reality, I can check against the value stored in the standalone automatical...

Re: Check standalone version?

Heh. Good workaround! Also easy to use while in stack development mode. But is there no way for a *standalone* to find out its own version number? Given that it’s something stored internally in a plist (in a Mac app at least), it seems quite inelegant to have to roll my own. :-/

Check standalone version?

When I build a stand-alone I set the app version. Is there a way to check the version of a standalone (my app’s own version, not the version of the underlying engine) by script? I’d like my app to make a simple check for a newer version of itself (by checking for a bit of data in an online file) so ...

Re: Shell command fails in LC

How can you write such an (yes, wonderful) article without mentioning TeX? Hah! Thanks for the compliment. There were two reasons why I didn't mention TeX: One: MacUser was aimed at designers who typically go no further than HTML when it comes to code, and when typesetting is mentioned would automa...

the full beauty of Hermann Hesse's "Steps" and Hermann Zapf's font "Zapfino". Zapfino is extraordinary, isn't it? Thanks for this! In return, you may enjoy reading a column of mine on the origins and uses of Zapfino: http://www.thisbloglife.com/2017/02/652/ (I was MacUser magazine's Technical Edito...

Re: Shell command fails in LC

Mmm, either you will gifted by some Gods or you'll have the worst nightmares of your life... :D Well, this is a 'sacrificial' Mac; I have a second laptop, temporarily, that I can wipe and set up and wipe again if necessary. It's a luxury I'm prepared to exploit in the pursuit of learning while I ha...
