Re: revBrowser and Flash?

Thanks Neil! That's brilliant, it works perfectly.
Is there any background info on the new 'Cef' version of the revBrowserOpen function?

revBrowser and Flash?

I'm tinkering with revBrowser and my panoramas. It's fine for those tests that are set up as HTML5 only, but I normally publish these as Flash & HTML5. When I try to view one of those I get "blocked plugin" rather than the interactive content. Example of HTML5 test content: http://panoramaphotograph...

Re: Recording sound being played

So, no joy? I got a half-reasonable result by simply playing the sound through the laptop's speakers and recording from the internal mic, but it's obviously not great quality. If there's no pure LC solution for direct 'system' recording of what's played, would it be silly of me to try playing throug...

Recording sound being played

I have a stack that plays wav audio files, short clips that are played in an order determined by a string of text. I'd like to be able to record the sounds that are played into a new sound file. Format isn't important, just the act of capturing the audio. From what I can see, LC will record from pra...

Re: Forum search keyword restrictions?

Is it really a good idea for this forum's search feature to ignore the word "stack"?
I mean, c'mon! :D

Re: Scrolling group problem

Whoosh! That looks great, thanks Todd. It also looks a little tricky as you say, although definitely not as tricky as some things I've tried. :D
I'll give it a shot.

Scrolling group problem

I have a set of image objects that are generated, filled with image content and arranged by script. They're generated into a named group and the group is resized at the end to fit the card's height. It has a vertical scroll bar set. The group scrolls in the IDE (only when I grab the scroller BTW, no...

Re: App switcher/multi-tasking thumbnail

I'm not so surprised that it's an area of concern, but I would really appreciate at least knowing what things could be a problem when this limitation is removed. Then at least I'd be fully informed and can navigate my way around possible pitfalls on my own. Going further, offering this option as par...

Re: App switcher/multi-tasking thumbnail

To be fair I'm sure there are wrinkles to this that make the current setting the sensible way. Even I'm not dumb enough to believe I can walk into something like this and know better than the authors themselves. It would, though, be good to know what sort of things I should consider and look ...

Re: App switcher/multi-tasking thumbnail

Hah! Isn't LiveCode itself a 'use at your own risk' kind of thing? I mean, it's SO powerful it's like the phrase "with great power comes great responsibility" was made specifically for it. :D (Personally, I'd *much* rather see it as an option in the Standalone Application Settings window and have a ...

Re: App switcher/multi-tasking thumbnail

Great tip! It works well for me. It'd be *really* nice to see this implemented as an option in the Standalone Application Settings window along with the other items in the Requirements and Restrictions section. (I just peeked into a copy of the "revstandalonesettings.rev" document but decided to ste...

Re: the number of ACTUAL lines in a field?

Of course it's an easy one-liner too, no two-step process needed:

Code: Select all

put the number of lines of the formattedText of field "blurb"
Thanks!

Re: the number of ACTUAL lines in a field?

That's not quite what I was playing towards (a more accurate phrase than "working towards") but it's a great example for a related process. Thanks!

Re: the number of ACTUAL lines in a field?

Replying to my own question *again*... :D Seems that the textHeightSum tells me the total height of the lines of text in pixels. Finding the 'effective textHeight' of the field tells me the line spacing, I can work out the number of visual lines from that, with a bit of sanity checking to CMA.

the number of ACTUAL lines in a field?

I know I can get the lines of a field, which tells me how many return-delimited chunks of text there are. But is there a way to determine the 'effective' lines of a field? Say I have one string with no returns in the middle, but it's long enough to linewrap into three 'effective', visual lines. (A b...
