Re: How to know when user has edited a field?

Klaus: closeField is no good when the user is filling out a form with a number of fields, e.g., Name, Date of Birth, etc. We need to stop him only when he does something (like leaving the card) without saving the changes. Of course, we don't disturb him after every character! I have a global variabl...

Thanks, sturgis!

How to know when user has edited a field?

I see that, on iOS, the message inputTextChanged is sent.
What about OSX? In general, how is this recognized, so the program can prompt the user to save the changes?

Thanks,
Sri.

Re: How to replace all menuItems of an option menu button?

Amazing! I was trying all kinds of complex things!
If all else fails, try the obvious!

Thanks, Craig!

How to replace all menuItems of an option menu button?

I don't know how to reference the container of all menuItems. Put menuItem i of button "Choose Name" returns the particular menuItem. But, if I want to replace all the menuItems with the contents of a field, put field "newMenuItems" into menuItems of button "Choose Name" doesn't work. The dictionary...

Re: DataGrid: Setting bg color of cells conditionally

I have finally solved it! 1. It has to be set in the fillinData of the custom column behavior script, not the dataGrid behavior script 2. The opacity must be set to "true" (default is "false", so the background bands of alternating row colors could show) Here's the script: on FillInData pData set th...

DataGrid: Setting bg color of cells conditionally

Hi: I am trying to set the cell color to green if the cell entry is 1, red if it is 0. I added a switch statement to the FillinData handler of the behavior script, as follows: on FillInData pDataArray set the text of field "Label" of me to pDataArray["label 1"] switch the text of field "Label" of me...

Re: use-livecode

Thanks, people!

Yes, I do subscribe to the email group and look at the digest now and again, but find it difficult to follow.
Thanks mwieder and doc for the web interfaces; the gmane.org one seems especially easy to use and has a threaded layout. I think I'll give it a go.

Regards,
Sri.

use-livecode

I have never participated in a usenet group before.
What would you recommend as the simplest reader to use (on a Mac)?
Ease of use is the main criterion.

Thanks,
Sri.

Re: Undisplayed Groups

They do not show up in the app browser.
This is worth mentioning as a feature request
The App Browser could have another category under each stack, in addition to Audio clips and Video clips: may be, call it "Ghost Objects" (as opposed to Hidden)?

Re: Undisplayed Groups

Thanks, Jacque, that makes sense (although many of these nits could be avoided just as well by storing the group in a substack).

Another question: How would one access the group that doesn't show up anywhere? For example, where would it appear in the Application Browser?

Thanks,
Sri.

Re: Undisplayed Groups

Hi Klaus:

I am familiar with, may be, 5% of LiveCode. Yet, with that little, I was able to write a fairly intricate (to me) app in about two weeks.

So, yes, LiveCode is voodoo!

Undisplayed Groups

From 2005 Scripting Conference tutorial: "Groups can be displayed on a card, or used simply to store objects or scripts for reference by other scripts and objects. ........... Groups which are not placed on any card will never be seen, but their contents can still be accessed" 1. If a group (and the...
