Re: How to check "if the target is a button" ?

Of course, Hermann!

I'd used "the short name of the target" in my script, so "button" was not available to me! (forehead-slap)

Thanks!

How to check "if the target is a button" ?

Is there a way to check the type of object that was clicked on?

I see that "is" and "is among" works only with number, words, etc.

DG Table: Is it possible to edit the column template itself (not behavior) by script?

The default column template in a Datagrid table is set up such that each cell contains an editable field ("field 1 of me"). I'd like a DG table where each cell has only a button. I can use the IDE to edit the column template for each column, delete the field, and add a button. My question is, is the...

Header widget first item label text is sticky even after emptying

1. Set the firstItemLeft of widget “Header” to true — (by default) 2. Set the itemStyle of widget “Header” to “icons” — label text shouldn’t show The dictionary says, under “firstItemLeft”, “In some themes, the first action always has its label displayed when firstItemLeft is true. If you don't want...

Re: send menuPick

May be
a) the menuMode property of your "Help" button is empty (i.e., not set to one of "pulldown", etc.), so menuPick doesn't answer
OR
b) menuPick requires a minimum of two items? (your Help button has only one, while File and Edit have many).

Re: Is livecode dead?

As a non-professional LiveCode programmer, I was hesitant to enter the treacherous waters of this discussion, but decided I may have a point or two to contribute! 1. MaxV has contributed enough (his website and wiki) to be taken seriously as someone who truly cares about LC, not a troll. I was amaze...

Re: Data grid form - problem editing data

Hi ittarter:

Shouldn't line 4 be

Code: Select all

put the text of pFieldEditor into theDataA
theDataA is an array containing one row of dgData[theIndex].
So, theDataA[theIndex] would point to empty, halting your handler.

Re: Looking for an example stack of a address book, etc.

As a general rule: custom properties for persistent values, script locals for session-temporary ones. I try to avoid global variables whenever possible. They clutter up things. What if I need a variable that is accessible across scripts but not persistent across sessions? Wouldn't globals fit the b...

Ability to set keyboard shortcuts

Switching between browser and pointer tool is an action I perform seemingly every few seconds. It is, without question, the single most frequent action I perform when I work with LC. The keyboard shortcuts Cmd-9 and Cmd-0 or nearly useless as it is simpler to click on the icons with one finger. Eith...

Widgets Marketplace

I have not been following LC developments closely in recent times, so my apologies if my question sounds clueless! With the introduction of LC8 and LCB, savvy programmers were supposed to be able to make widgets which they then could sell to others (like me) who need help with complex tasks. There w...

Re: DataGrid: Setting bg color of cells conditionally

It is also worth noting that it is possible to set the colour of the text in FillInData but that it gets reset when "setprop dgHilite pBoolean" is called. Despite what is written in the comments : setprop dgHilite pBoolean -- This custom property is set when the highlight of your column template ha...

Re: [solved] Identifying a Datagrid

Hi Klaus: I have two questions relating to your code: 1. Your code would eliminate not only groups nested under a dataGrid but also the dataGrid itself. For example, put the dgControl of group "DataGrid1" returns its own name (i.e., not empty). 2. Also, your output list will contain all kinds of con...

Re: [HELP] Identifying a Datagrid

Zax:

You could try
if the dgData of control i is not empty ...
(Note that a blank dataGrid just dragged in will have an empty dgData)

Re: [HELP] Identifying a Datagrid

Hi Zax: Did you make sure to parenthesize properly the name of the datagrid while looping? on mouseUp repeat with i = 1 to 3 get "" try -- get the dgControl of group "DataGrid" & i -- INCORRECT; WILL RETURN EMPTY get the dgControl of group ("DataGrid" & i) -- CORRECT end try if it is not empty then ...
