Re: Environment: which applies when?

That helps. (Although there is still a great deal of iOS fog in my mind!)
Thank you.

Re: Environment: which applies when?

... In particular, use specialFolderPath("resources") to find videos and keep the videos in the same folder, or a subfolder, of the mainstack. The dictionary says, "On iOS systems, only create files in the "documents", "cache" and "temporary" folders. Be careful not to change or add any files withi...

Re: Environment: which applies when?

Klaus: It is not "development" and "mobile" at the same time! See, "play video" works only on mobile, where it plays a video fullscreen. "Player" object works only on desktop OS. So, while developing I put in "if the environment is ...." clause, so it works on both (while testing). If the simulator ...

Re: Player won't load source file by button script

The problem occurs if you set the layer AFTER you have set the filename.
Set the layer first, it works!

Re: Player won't load source file by button script

I think I have figured it out. The culprit is

Code: Select all

set the layer of player 1 to top
in my original code. If you delete it, it works. If you add it, it doesn't. Something about changing the layer of the player after setting the filename or before "showing" it, I don't know.

Sri.

Re: Player won't load source file by button script

Hi Klaus: I am not getting the same result! By the way, to avoid the parenthesis issue, I tried set the filename of player 1 of this card to "/Users/Sri/Desktop/myVideo.mp4" I also tried to put the file path string into a temp variable first. None of these works. The player shows, but is an empty an...

Re: Environment: which applies when?

May be I wasn't clear about my confusion! Suppose I want to play a video in an iOS app, being developed on a Mac. The code might be if the environment is "development" then show player 1 start player 1 else if the environment is "mobile" then play video tVideoURL end if Would it be appropriate to us...

Player won't load source file by button script

1. Drag a player object onto the card (hide it to begin with) 2. Create a button "PlayMovie" with the script: on mouseUp set the filename of player 1 of this card to the desktop folder & "/myVideo.mp4" set the currentTime of player 1 of this card to 0 set the layer of player 1 of this card to top sh...

Environment: which applies when?

I’d like to understand when the different environments operate: e.g., consider “development”, “standalone application”, and “mobile”. Which one applies when: i) testing using the iOS simulator on Mac ii) testing with iOS device connected to the Mac iii) standalone installed on the iOS device Thanks,...

Player Controller question

I created a player, set the source to a local .mp4 video file, and played. (LC 9.0.2 Indy, Mac 10.14.4) There are two little half-arrow icons at the right hand edge of the Controller which I assumed were Rewind and Fast-forward (to take you to an earlier or later time point) but they seemed to perma...

Selecting text in a field with script

I have a regular text field (not list field).
When I type in the message box

Code: Select all

select word 5 of field 1
nothing happens! (well, sometimes the word gets highlighted for a split second).

Is it not possible to select text by script in an editable text field?

Thanks,
Sri
