Re: KeyDown is just a message

Also made one try canceling the pendingMessages, and still no luck.

These two still might do the trick, with a little more investigation.

Re: KeyDown is just a message

Thunder.

Play around, but:

Code: Select all

on keydown k
   answer k
  get flushevents("all")
end keydown
Did not work.

Re: Change top border color of a Button

Bogs.

Well, what do you know? I have never used an effect. Very cool.

Re: lost zero with add

Hi.

What Klaus said.

But do read the dictionary entry for "numberFormat". It is important to know that many formatting issues require that at least one mathematical operation be run before the format will be applied.

Re: KeyDown is just a message

Bogs. Throwing the breakpoint in doesn't change that your putting in code to pass the event (I think). But it does. No char is written into the field. Stopping the handler, and then continuing breaks the flow somehow. Hermann. This is interesting. The very first answer dialog should block all subseq...

Re: Change top border color of a Button

Bogs.

Ah, now I see what you were talking about. I think, though, that it was the top border.

Your effects solution is cool, but would not work for, say, the right side, no? The kluge is at least adaptable to any one or more of the four borders.

Re: KeyDown is just a message

Nothing happens. Apparently "keydown" has to originate from the field itself for a char to appear at the insertion point: on mouseUp --in the button send "keyDown C" to fld 1 end mouseUp on keyDown tKey --in the field pass keyDown end keyDown And as for poking around the edges, I like the solitude. ...

Re: Change top border color of a Button

Bogs.

How did you change the color of only one border? i don't follow your pictures.

Re: Change top border color of a Button

You mentioned that changing the borderColor seemed to have no effect. Remember all those tools? Know that the property "3D" will have a profound effect on the border of a control. Make a button. Set its "borderColor" to "red". In the property inspector, check and uncheck the "3D" button. Play with t...

Re: Change top border color of a Button

Hi. The borderColor property encompasses all four borders. In order to make only the top one red, you must overlay another gadget, perhaps a horizontal red line graphic. This is not too onerous. The length of the graphic will be the width of the button, and the topLeft of the graphic will be the top...

One way to do this is to use a stack menu. Check out the user guide, page 82.

I would move this to the beginners pane; it has nothing to do with new features.

Re: Intersection problem

Bogs is likely on the right track.

But what do you mean by a "black and white graphic"? A line is a graphic. Do you mean an image? And do you want to find the black pixels in the image that coincide with the points of a line graphic?

Re: KeyDown is just a message

Richard. I know. What made me write in the first place, which now seems unimportant on reflection, was that the parameter to the keyDown message could be a string of any length. I am so used to keyDown in its "ordinary" usage, that is, a char passed as the result of a keyPress, that I did not think ...

KeyDown is just a message

Not sure whether this is even a topic of interest, or a topic at all. In a button script: on mouseUp send "keyDown XYZABC" to fld 1 end mouseUp And in the field script: on keyDown tkey put tkey after me --hardly simply a key end keyDown Is this an example of the native message "keyDown" being "inter...
