Re: Array average

I thought the issue was that the OP wanted to get the average of an array. The average function will only work with clear data. Unless I am just not getting it, the array must be converted to an ordinary dataSet with the "combine" command, and then the average function can be used. And yes, an empty...

Re: Auto Calculate Text Fields?

Klaus.

You, know, I thought that was it. 8)

After all these years, you did not know about "target"? It goes back to HC v.1.

It really is a useful gadget. How did you live without it?

Re: Printing delivery note

Bogs.

I know you are LC-old-fashioned, too.

But report builder is no longer around, no?

Re: Printing delivery note

Hypercard had, however old fashioned it seemed, a powerful native report feature, that could accept information in any form, and even use user defined functions, all that to assemble data into a customizable template for printing. I did mention it appeared old-fashioned. This sort of comment has com...

Re: Auto Calculate Text Fields?

Hi again. Know that you can insert stuff like: if the short name of the target is in variableContainingTheCorrectFieldNames and\ target is a number then... So that only the two fields of interest with valid text place their sums into that third field. That sort of thing, so that it actually works. C...

Re: Auto Calculate Text Fields?

Such a fun thing.

In the card script:

Code: Select all

on textChanged
   put fld 1 + fld 2 into fld 3
end textChanged

Hi.

Once you made it work with the menu, did Cmd-F work?

Hi.

Perhaps "1,67" is not a number. (comma)

Re: distinguishing a table field

And just to beat a dead horse, I actually viewed both the common name and the LC property name for that non-property. One is: "basicTableObject" and the other is "Basic Table Object".

This made me think it had to be a real LC property, and not just not a property at all.

Re: distinguishing a table field

Klaus. Ah, thanks. So the answer to my question is: answer the cRevGeneral["table"] of fld 1 This harkens back to a thread I created a while back, where the "CRevGeneral" custom property is sort of invisible until it is used. I will try to find that thread, and see if I can drill into my head when a...

distinguishing a table field

Anyone ever need to determine whether a particular field is a table field? There is a property in the inspector called "basicTableObject", but this is not in the dictionary, and asking for the value of that property makes LC think it is a custom property (the property is always empty). Most fields t...

Re: math

Conceptually, there must be a reason.

Programmatically, know that the function will fail, due to the "%" as part of the argument. LC will not allow:

Code: Select all

put 4/10%
How that should be changed (0.1?) is a question.

Re: Table Field not updating correctly

Brian is likely on to something. And maybe that is why it matters if a "cell" has (or has not) been pre-loaded under script control. There are no phantom fields and none of the concomitant messages generated by user action. The tabs are "loaded" via a different methodology (a handler), and somehow t...
