Re: Create new records. Substack, group hidden?

When referring to "rec" property, is the option position of the Inspector panel? "rect", not "rec". The rect of an object is its upper left and lower right coordinates, like "0,0,100,100". You would use the "position" pane in the inspector for stacks, cards or controls. Each of the above items is s...

Bogs.

Baby.

I was only expanding on something I thought might be of interest.

And I just reread Jean-Marc'spost, and see that he did indeed introduce that "fld 1" thingie.

Keep the faith.

Re: Numeric Keyboard entry on OSX

Try this:

Open  Apple menu and choose “System Preferences”, then go to “Accessibility”

Select “Mouse & Trackpad” and look for an option called “Enable Mouse Keys” – uncheck this if it is checked to regain usage of the number pad.

Re: Passing messages

I am in v. 8.1.10. This drove me nuts, especially after my thread about one type of handler not being saved in a plug-in between sessions, whereas other handlers save just fine: http://forums.livecode.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=31704 There is skepticism that the issue there is not with a particular han...

Re: Create new records. Substack, group hidden?

Play around all you like. But I would not think in terms of print areas when you create your groups. Build them as you like, and simply set the rect of the subStack to hold the largest of them comfortably. Again, you could resize the subStack to always just frame whatever group happens to be visible...

Passing messages

I thought I knew how these things worked/ In a new stack I have the following handler in the stack script: on mouseStillDown if the optionKey is down then answer the ticks end mouseStillDown The dictionary states that the "mouseStillDown" message is sent to the card if no underlying control is under...

Re: Only number and one point after first number allowed?

What Bogs has mentioned, though not explicitly stated, is that you have to have some information about the target of the data entry in order to validate whether or not the key entry should be allowed. Your original handler, wholly a keydown handler, cannot know this, and therefore cannot determine w...

Re: Create new records. Substack, group hidden?

Hi. I like the subStack method, because it will float above or to the side of the working card, and that is more to the liking of most users. The subStack can be any size, and can be changed as you need. All stacks have a "rect" property, which is open to change in many ways. You need to know this. ...

Re: Plug-in stack script not surviving sessions

No comments for a while.

I will sent the stack to the team and see what they make of it.

Re: Unexpected behaviour

What Jacque said. Know that even the tiny amount of time (0 ticks, say,) that the processor is required to, er, process, is enough of a delay to prevent even the longest and most unruly repeat loops not to reach the recursion limit. It can be a useful practice in and of itself. This issue arises in ...

Re: Plug-in stack script not surviving sessions

Do you end it with a pass? If you intercept the saveStackRequest then you abort the save I believe. Yes I do, but a good point. But my issue is not that I cannot save a stack, even the plugin stack. It is that the "saveStackRequest" handler itself will not survive sessions in my plugin stack script...

Re: Plug-in stack script not surviving sessions

Klaus. Hi. I save by CMD-S. So I added a button and saved via a short handler. The result is empty. I took the plug-in out of the plugin folder, added a saveStackRequest handler, saved everything and quit LC. When I reopened, the new handler was not there. I can add other handlers, and they stick ju...

Re: Plug-in stack script not surviving sessions

Well. It seems that only trying to add a "saveStackRequest" handler to the plug-in stack script fails to save between sessions. That was the message I was trying to catch. Others seem to have no issue staying in the script. But the entire "saveStackRequest" handler disappears between sessions. Craig

Plug-in stack script not surviving sessions

I have a plug-in that has two handlers in the stack script. But now I cannot save any additional handlers to the stack script between sessions. The original pair of handlers, that I made when I first built the plug-in, always survives. Nothing obvious, like the "cantModify" or anything like that. Ho...

Re: Compare Data from Array

Have not heard from you, so I am throwing this into the ether. Assuming you have your data in a fid 1, and you also have a fld 2: on mouseUp set the itemDel to tab repeat with y = 1 to the number of lines of fld 1 put item 2 of line y of fld 1 & return after myArray[item 1 of line y of fld 1] end re...
