Re: size / efficiency question

I would worry less about size and think more about long term usability. I see similar apps mentioned here quite often, and I always think that making the question/answers an editable text file would be a better app than hard coding them into the cards. That way it could be used for multiple subjects...

I believe what you are looking for is the property "thumbPosition".

Re: Windows 8 Tablets

I have about 7 apps written for windows xp and 7 that are working on my windows 8 tablet. So while the official answer is no, and the LiveCode team not yet support it, if you feel adventurous you might have the same luck as myself.

Re: Circular Progress Bar

I recently worked on a similar project.I used the startAngle and arcAngle of the graphic to achieve my effect. Since I needed the arcAngle to extend to the right instead of the left, I created a complete circle of my "meter" color, or in your case "progress" color. Then I adjusted the arcAngle of an...

Re: Gradually change color properties of a graphic

Something fun to play with :) Make a button and put this script into it. local tRed local tGreen local tBlue on mouseUp put 0 into tRed put 0 into tGreen put 255 into tBlue set the backgroundColor of me to (tRed&comma&tgreen&comma&tBlue) send changeColor to me in 20 milliseconds end mouseUp on chang...

Re: Touch and hold on windows 8

When I got home I was able to test this. It does in fact return the "3" value, so no extra scripting beyond handling the right click is necessary.

Re: combine scrambles array

Since I came to LC from C++, I started out using an array at the heart of every app I wrote. It has only been in the past few months, that I have come to realize that LC has such easy methods of navigating within a single variable, that arrays are not that necessary. instead of referencing "myArray[...

Touch and hold on windows 8

On my windows 8 tablet, touch and hold displays a square. When released the right click menu is displayed. Can I assume that an app run in windows 8 will receive the "3" value as the button number when this action is performed, or do I need to script that functionality into the app?

Re: Way to find the points of where startAngle and circle me

I made a couple changes. As my project progressed it became obvious that I needed a way to offset the target points a specific number of degrees away from the startAngle, so I added an argument for doing that. I also discovered that the cr in the return value only worked with part of what I needed s...

Re: why it deos not work?

When using "repeat for each"The value of i is not the line number. It is the line itself.

Re: Way to find the points of where startAngle and circle me

magice, When I got out of high school I cut the paycheck out of the equation and thought I should be paid in beer :) Simon LOL, Thankfully I quit drinking, and in a moment of sober boredom I discovered that I love math. Now that paycheck is starting to finally be a bigger part of the equation. 8) O...

Re: Way to find the points of where startAngle and circle me

No problem. Do you know what a "radian" is? Do you now see "why" a radian is? Craig I am starting to now that you have pointed it out for me to look up. :D Please forgive my mathematical ineptitude. When I graduated high school over 30 years ago, the only math I was interested in was figuring out h...

Nevermind i think I figured out the connection. 180/57.3 is darn close to pi so I should be able to refine this with a little work :D

Re: Way to find the points of where startAngle and circle me

ok I think I am on to something. I made a slider with a start value of 1 and an end value of 360. in it I put this code: on scrollbarDrag tNew put the height of grc "circle" / 2 into r put item 1 of the loc of grc "circle" into a put item 2 of the loc of grc "circle" into b set the startAngle of gra...
