Re: Queries Stopped Working

You may have already went through some of these, but just to brain-storm: Permissions: does the db user you are using have permissions to connect from your remote location? I know you said you were working in MySQL Workbench, but Workbench can use SSH connections. IF you are using SSH to connect to ...

Re: CLI Standalone App does not quit (Windows)

can you just write a little batch script that you launch separately and include that script in your standalone? That would allow your standalone to proceed with whatever while the batch script runs/quits on its own.

Re: copying between databases

Are these going to be routines that you run on a regular basis (or semi-regular), or random things that change frequently? If you have livecode server running on your db server, it is possible to have a short bash script that you can launch with Livecode that could ssh into your other server and do ...

Re: I need a basic example of using a "Streaming App"

That works! I was very close with the script I was trying, but I had to set permissions on the parent folder of where my external files are so the apache-user could have access (where webroot is /var/www/webroot and stacks are at /var/www/stacks) fixed with chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www &&chmo...

Sorry, I have been experimenting but cannot seem to make this work. Can you give me an example of what the CGI script might look like?

Re: I need a basic example of using a "Streaming App"

Do you have LiveCode Server or other flexible scripting language set up as a CGI on your server?
Indeed I do

Re: I need a basic example of using a "Streaming App"

I'd you'd like I can turn up my version is mchttpd, socket server that handles HTTP. It's not great for production except maybe in very specialized setups, but it's a great way to learn how HTTP works so your can later use Apache, Lightly, Nginx, or anything else with confidence. Yes, that would be...

Re: I need a basic example of using a "Streaming App"

@FourthWorld VPN is a good option. In most of the projects I've used this on I also need authentication and other backend services, so I keep the stack files outside of the web root folder and serve them as binary files from an LC Server CGI. Richard, I know this is an old thread, but I was wonderin...

Re: Getting data from wordpress-site

edit: after re-reading your original post I realized you might mean that there is already a reservation system set up on the website, and they want you to pull data from that to your application you are building. If that is the case, do you know if they are using a custom-built thing on the site, or...

I think that Paypal Pro (at least that is what they used to call it) has an API and allows you to do some stuff: https://developer.paypal.com/docs/integration/mobile/mobile-sdk-overview/ https://developer.paypal.com/docs/classic/products/payflow-gateway/ ..but the free account is limited to website ...

Re: Struggling with the WPRestAPI tools

Currently I am booked, so unable to take on new projects, but I do not mind discussing issues and such here in the forums. I watched the video on youtube, and it looked promising. Particularly when it comes to using Woocommerce within Livecode. At the same time, I am not a big fan of writing externa...

Steve,
Is there something in particular you would like to do with livecode/Wordpress...or are you just interested in general knowledge of the subject?

Re: Cloud/Web Storage for User Files/Documents?

Personally I would store all the images and user generated content in Directories per user on Dropbox on and have the main HTML on another hosting provider giving you the best of both. I am a big fan of DigitalOcean for that sort of thing. A $5.00/month droplet can handle a pretty decent load and i...

Re: Large External File Usage

Do you have ssh access to the Mysql server?
If you do, I have had better luck with large files by uploading the file to the server and then importing like:

mysql --user=mysqluser --password=yourpassword --host=localhost thedatabase < thefile.csv
