Re: Coding an Update Functionality for an LC App ?

So, what are the Pros/cons for the security side of the Data Transfered between devices and server ? Is encryption enuf to protect your data privacy ..or is VPN required too ..? Is there data other than the stack being transferred between devices and server? I mean are you accessing a database or s...

Re: Coding an Update Functionality for an LC App ?

If a network interruption occurs you CANT keep up working offline.. The stack is stored in memory while working, so it would continue working if the network was lost, unless you were accessing a remote database, in which case it would not work, but neither would an application that launched locally...

Re: Coding an Update Functionality for an LC App ?

hmm...okay...so its mostly useable on larger screens...like desktop ones.
I mean : it wont resize out of the box to smartphones or tablets ?
why not? It will do whatever you have set the stack to do.

Re: Coding an Update Functionality for an LC App ?

Here is the thread where I learned about it a couple of years ago: http://forums.livecode.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=28075&p=155580#p155580 @FourthWorld goes into some more details on ways to secure it. I have used this method on a database project I was working on. Worked across all Desktops (mac, wi...

Re: Coding an Update Functionality for an LC App ?

use a launcher stack that opens the most current version of the actual mainstack +1 for this method. It is quite possibly even more simple than how it sounds. 1. take your app you are building. Do not export it as anything..just take the file you have been working on and put it on a webserver in a ...

Re: Payment-System in LC

A couple of years ago someone posted a Paypal Handler they had created. I never used it for anything, so I am not sure if it will do what you want but might be worth a look: http://forums.livecode.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=23668&p=122485&hilit=paypal#p122485 Along the lines of what the previous poste...

Re: Can any experienced HTTPS/MySQL user help build webservice.

It sounds like you will have to work your way through it bit by bit. My suggestion is to use Livecode on both ends (server and client), which will make things a little easier. Let us know as you have specific questions for each step. It can be difficult to answer broad questions like "it does not wo...

Re: Can any experienced HTTPS/MySQL user help build webservice.

How far did you get with the Livecode Server method?

Either way can be safe, as far as that goes, although I am not sure there is any real "safeness" on the internet nowadays, just different levels of difficulty.

Is the data sensitive? Who will be using the app?

Re: Can any experienced HTTPS/MySQL user help build webservice.

I am a little confused about which method you are using? PHP or Livecode Server?

Re: Can any experienced HTTPS/MySQL user help build webservice.

Where is your server hosted at? Do you have root? Can you run Livecode Server on it?

Can you elaborate a little more on this sentence:
The provider already pointed to a client/server solution that works well ..although harder to adapt I believe.

Re: Send XML Doc to web service

Can you tell us more about the webserver that you will be sending to? Will you have control over it? What will be running on the webserver? (apache, php, LC Server, mySQL?). I have LC Server (community) running on one of my servers and built an app that sends data via post. The server then looks at ...

Re: Sanity Check

I have a little application that runs on my server where I write some times/dates onto a text-file, then check it later and update the text. In my mind it was going to be a complicated thing, but once I delved into it, I found it was as simple as: #get the most recent status from the time file put l...

Re: Queries Stopped Working

Just make a copy and work from that rather than altering your current work.

I generally make a copy each day I am working on a project so I have something to backtrack to when I completely bungle things.

Re: Queries Stopped Working

I am vaguely recollecting having some query issue with LC 7, but it was LC Server. Still, it was a random issue that would happen sometimes on some specific query that caused me no end of hair-pulling. Moving to 8 solved the problem. Have you tried LC 9, if for no other reason than to rule out LC 7 ...
