Re: Create Database in LiveCode?

I once (for a school project) made a database with Adobe Flash and text files. It actually worked!

Re: Postgres SQL Server

sorry, I re-read your original post where you said you were able to connect to the database when working in LC, which means I am off-base. Your database is probably configured for incoming connection correctly.

Does your app work if you save it as a stand-alone desktop app?

Re: Postgres SQL Server

You probably need to open up the server to allow connections from whatever IP you are at, or open it up to any connections (not safe).

phpPGAdmin might make things easier for managing your users and allowed connections:

Re: Remote DB Lib

Will you be using a remote db? Does Andre's library appeal to you because it would make writing queries easier, or make it easier to work with LC? I ask because I just browsed through it a little and it just seemed like a bunch more stuff to sort through, so why not just learn SQL queries and roll y...

Re: Database with accents and diacritics

what happens if you use phpMyadmin to enter the same data into the database? Are the results the same? ..or are you only getting those results when you use Livecode to send data to the database?

Re: Database with accents and diacritics

I was able to post and search with no problems. I am using Livecode Community Edition 9 for the front-end, and a remote server with MariaDB, Apache2, anbd Livecode Community Edition Server 9. I url-encode everything before sending it to my remote server. I did not have to make any changes to my exis...

Re: Database with accents and diacritics

Can you post a list of the different accented words or diacritics you are speaking of...perhaps a list of fake names and such that are similar to what you would use?

I am working on a database right now and can check to see if they give me any problems.

Re: Tools Palette likes to disappear

My experience is that if you have other applications open in the same desktop, then focusing gets confused and the tool palette will start vanishing. I run into this if I have the backdrop on or off. Having a Virtual Desktop with only Livecode open and the backdrop on seems to solve it. As soon as I...

Re: Tools Palette likes to disappear

I use Ubuntu 18.04, and Livecode 9. My DE is Kubuntu Desktop. After much dinkering, I found that if I dedicate a single Virtual Desktop to Livecode, and have the backdrop enabled, then my tool-bar does not disappear and everything works fine. Plus, it is sort of nice having my all my LC stuff isolat...

From what I read, it is currently in Beta and free to use for everyone; however, they will eventually come out with a fee of some kind.

Re: How to communicate across devices? Use a database?

Not sure if it’s what you are looking for, but https://livecloud.io sounds like it could fit this type of app and it has the advantage that it is built for LiveCode. That looks very interesting; however, I would be hesitant to spend much time developing against it until they come out with their fee...

Re: Datagrid

In my opinion, your time would be better spent learning the following: learning MySQL queries setting up a MySQL server on a basic linux VPS installing Livecode Server on that VPS, along with Apache2 write LC server scripts with all of your queries and then use Livecode Stacks to send coded requests...

Re: Get content of DataGrid row with mouse double-click

--check if there is an id for the row clicked if tSelected[id] is a number then I should have removed that before posting. It is check I have in place to test if a new record is being created. Out of curiousity, does your highlighted row change color at all? I think mine changes to a bright blue co...
